Chenille Thick and Quick® is a 91% acrylic, 9% rayon yarn and is available in solids and prints. Solid skeins have a
yardage of 100 yds (90 m), while prints are 75 yds (68 m) long. (Note: weights may vary due to the texture of the yarn.)
For the knit gauge, 8 stitches and 16 rows should equal 4" (10 cm) on size 11 (8 mm) needles. For the crochet gauge, 6
single crochets and 6.5 rows should equal 4" (10 cm) on a size P-15 (10 mm) hook.

Homespun® is a 98% acrylic, 2% polyester yarn and is available in a variety of colors. Pull skeins weigh 6 oz (170 g) and
have a yardage of 185 yds (167 m). For the knit gauge, 14 stitches and 20 rows should equal 4" (10 cm) on size 10 (6 mm)
needles. For the crochet gauge, 10 single crochets and 10 rows should equal 4" (10 cm) on a size K-10½ (6.5 mm) hook.

BASIC STITCHES & TECHNIQUES

  CHAIN (abbreviated ch)    WORKING INTO THE CHAIN

To work a chain stitch, begin with a slip knot on
the hook. Bring the yarn over hook from back to
front, catching the yarn with the hook and turning
the hook slightly toward you to keep the yarn from
slipping off. Draw the yarn through the slip knot
(Fig. 1) (first chain st made).

  WHIPSTITCH
Place two (Motifs/Squares/Blocks/Strips) with
wrong sides together. (Beginning in center of
corner chs,) sew through both pieces once to
secure the beginning of the seam, leaving an
ample yarn end to weave in later. Insert the needle
from front to back through back loops only of
each stitch on both pieces) (Fig. 10a). Bring the
needle around and insert it from front to back
through next loops of both pieces. Continue in this
manner across (to corner), keeping the sewing
yarn fairly loose.
