The action of elective surgery is an action that has scheduled, therefore the doctor can use the waiting

time to provide adequate information for the patient before they give their approval statement for
the next action performed. In fact, not all patients of elective surgery received adequate information
about their treatment.
A cross-sectional study that had been done in July until December 2018 in Arifin Achmad General
Hospital. Primary data obtained through a guided interview includes knowledge, the attitude,
and action about the approval of the medical procedure. The data were analyzed by descriptive
statistics and univariate test.
62.4 percent of patients have a low knowledge, 25.8 percent of patients have medium knowledge and
only 11.8 percent of patients have good knowledge about the disease. However, patient attitude about
the approval of the medical procedure is 74.2 percent of patients have good perception,
25.8 percent of patients have a low perception of informed consent. 83.9 percent of the patient tends
to be passive on decision making.
