Nurses who have current registration in Australia may apply for registration with the
Nursing Council of New Zealand (the Council) under the TTMR Act.
1. Enrolled nurse
2. Registered nurse
3. Nurse practitioner
Registration occurs once all documents and verification of good standing from AHPRA
have been received (usually within five to ten working days). Once you are registered
you will need to apply for an annual practising certificate which entitles you to practise
in New Zealand.

Evidence requirements
The following documents must be uploaded as part of your online application:
1. Passport
You must supply a certified copy of the page of your current passport which
contains your personal details and a clear photograph of you.
2. Evidence of registration
You must supply evidence of current registration from AHPRA.

FAQs
I am registered as a nurse in Australia. Can I apply for TTMR?
Yes, if you are currently registered as a nurse in Australia. If your registration has
lapsed, or you have never been registered in Australia, you can’t apply for registration
under TTMR in New Zealand.
I do not have two years post registration experience. Can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply if you hold current registration with AHPRA.
If your application is successful, you will be sent information on how to apply for a
practising certificate, and the fee required.
Definitions
Certified copy is a photocopy that has been stamped and endorsed by a person who
confirms that the copy is a true copy of the original document. A certified copy must be
stamped as true copies of the original by a person authorised by law to make statutory
declarations in your country e.g. Justice of the Peace, lawyer, notary public or court
official.
