Student Code of Conduct - Indemnity Agreement ​v20190226

At Delhi Public School Jhansi (DPS Jhansi) we aim to ensure that every member of the
school community feels safe, supported and respected, and that each person is treated
fairly. Our Code of Conduct aims to promote an environment which encourages positive
relationships, learning and the development of self-discipline in each individual.

Each parent/guardian must ensure that his/her ward, at all times and abides by the
Rules and Regulations mentioned in the Code of Conduct below.

1 Code of Conduct

1.1 Students are required to be regular in their attendance and punctual at all times. They
must also attend all classes when in school.

1.2 Students are required to display high levels of integrity in all that they say or do on or off
school campus.

1.3 Students are required to behave with dignity and treat all members of staff students and
visitors with respect and courtesy, at all times. Insubordination and disrespect to staff
will result in serious disciplinary action.

1.4 Students from toddlers to nursery are required to observe the dress code laid out for
them.

1.5 Students from Pre-Nursery to Class XII are required to come well groomed, in regulation
school uniform (as per the Uniform Code). Fine of Rs 50/- will be imposed on defaulters.

1.6 Students should come, with notebooks and textbooks, as required on a day to day basis.
All home assignments and projects given to the children should be complete in every
respect by the specified dates.

1.7 Students should converse in English. Fine of Rs 50/- will be imposed on the defaulters.

Students are strictly warned against:

1.8 Possession or consumption of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and other illegal substances.

1.9 Possession or use of lethal weapons, explosives, match boxes and lighters or anything
that can be used as a weapon.

1.10 Any form of gambling on school premises or at school events.


1.11 Bullying of any kind, whatsoever, fighting or provoking a fight, disruptive behaviour in
the hallways, or restrooms (including yelling, running etc.).

1.12 Any wilful or dangerous act which violates safety or health rules and/or endangers
students and/or staff.

1.13 Use of violence, force, coercion, threat or intimidation, or other comparable conduct, or
urging others to engage in such conduct.

1.14 Making statements that are threatening, sexist, racist, profane or vulgar or promote
caste divides and communalism.

1.15 Cutting class (includes not being in the assigned place at the proper time and/or leaving
the assigned area without permission), truancy or leaving school grounds during the day
without permission.

1.16 Using objectionable language, both verbal and non verbal.

1.17 Theft or attempted theft, or the unauthorized use or possession of school property. or
the property of others.

1.18 Carrying Mobile phones CD players, digital phones, iPods or portable computers, large
amounts of cash, and objectionable literature, electronic or otherwise. If the above are
carried to school, they will be confiscated.

1.19 Disfiguring or otherwise damaging/vandalising any school property. The student will
assume the full cost of repair or replacement of any facilities damaged or lost by the
student.

1.20 Using or intending to use any unauthorized assistance in taking quizzes, tests,
examinations or copying from another exam paper before or during the exam or
allowing another student to cheat.

1.21 Public display of affection as it offends the sensibilities of others.

1.22 Breaking rules contained in the code of conduct to be observed on school


transportation.

2 Fee Policy

2.1 The school fee is payable on a quarterly basis. Fee Bills will be generated in each quarter,
i.e. in April, July, October and January. Fee needs to be paid before 25th of the last
month of previous quarter.

2.2 Late fee of Rs.10/- per day will be charged for first five days and thereafter Rs 50/- per
day.

2.3 In case admission is offered in the last quarter (January - March) of the academic year,
then the entire amount of Annual Charges will be required to be paid.

2.4 If the fee is not paid within 30 days from the due date, the name of the child will be
struck off the rolls of the school. The caution money will be adjusted against the dues
payable and the balance amount, if any will have to be paid by the parent. Re-admission
is subject to approval of the management and an amount which is equivalent to the
admission fee will be charged.

3 Withdrawal From School

3.1 After admission has been granted and the fee has been received, if the child has not
attended school even for a single day and the withdrawal application is given, then fee
will not be refunded.

3.2 In case of withdrawal, one month's notice or one month's fee (except the transport and
lunch fee) in lieu of such notice must be given.

3.3 The application of withdrawal must be addressed to the Principal.

3.4 If the withdrawal application is received between 1st January and 31st March of the
academic year, the entire fee for the last quarter (January - March) will be charged. The
Transfer Certificate will be issued only after all dues have been cleared.

3.5 For the withdrawal of a pupil from the school at least a calendar month’s notice must be
given in writing, otherwise one calendar month’s fee in lieu of notice will be charged. If a
student wants to leave after March, the application for TC and Security amount should
be given in February.

3.6 Transfers of parent to different district/city/state - Parent have to submit proof of


transfer viz. their transfer letter/appointment letter for new location and proof of
admission of student in new school. For getting the TC and Security amount the quarter
fees needs to be paid fully.

4 Mess

4.1 The School provides meals from the mess on payment basis. It is optional for day
scholars.

4.2 Meals are nutritious, wholesome, freshly prepared & lacto-ovo-vegetarian (includes
eggs)

4.3 The School ensures maximum hygiene in food preparation and good quality raw
material, School or it’s employees cannot not be held responsible for any mishap due to
food allergy or contamination.

5 Placement in class/stream/section

5.1 Please note that placement of the student in a particular class/stream/section will be at
the sole discretion of the school.

6 Students Photographs/Videos

6.1 Students photographs/videos taken by the school can be used in school publications and
advertising material.

7 Trips and Co-curricular Activities

7.1 The student is expected to take part in all kinds of outdoor activities eg. trips,
competitions and other adventure and social activities. School or event organizers
cannot be held responsible for any mishap.

7.2 Parents hereby indemnify the school for any charges/damages for any injury sustained
by the student during his stay in the school while taking part in various curricular or
co-curricular activities, or while travelling by school transport.

8 Transportation

8.1 The Transport Facility is provided for the convenience of the students; it is not an
obligatory service on the part of the school. A seat on the bus is subject to availability
on the first come first serve basis.

8.2 The school transportation will play only on the main arterial roads as determined by the
school.

8.3 Request for change of route in mid-session is not accepted.

8.4 A separate transport request form with the rules and regulations needs to be read
carefully and signed.

9 Code of Conduct for Students on Buses

When travelling between home and school, students using school transport must adhere
to various regulations regarding passenger behaviour i.e. the School Code of Conduct for
travel by bus. The safety and comfort of everyone on the bus depends on high standards

of behaviour and consideration for others. We urge parents/guardians to support the
school in maintaining these standards of behaviour.

9.1 Students must observe the requirements and instructions of the bus driver and the
individual’s responsible for bus duty, at all times.

9.2 Students are expected to be at the bus stop five minutes prior to the bus arrival time
and remain off the road while waiting for the bus. The bus will not wait for students who
arrive late at the stop.

9.3 Students must enter and exit from the bus in a quiet and orderly fashion. They must not
run alongside the moving bus, but wait until it has stopped, and then board it.

9.4 Students should remain seated once on the bus, until it reaches the destination.

9.5 Students must keep arms, legs and heads inside the bus; they must not allow any part of
their body to protrude from the bus.

9.6 Students must not resort to the use of offensive language, physical abuse, fighting,
spitting, placing feet on seats, throwing things in or from the bus.

9.7 Students should ensure that they do not indulge in rough play on the bus, while waiting
for, or on leaving the bus. They must not bully or harass other passengers.

9.8 Students must refrain from damaging or vandalizing property in the bus. Damage caused
to the bus will result in the guardian being billed for the cost of repairs.

9.9 Students will not be permitted to leave the bus except at their regular stop unless
written permission to do otherwise is received by school authorities.

9.10 Students must use the bus to which they are assigned. No change may be made without
the permission of the school authorities.

9.11 Students must submit a written request from their parents to go home any other way
than their regular bus, subject to the approval of the school authorities.

9.12 All school rules apply within the school bus as well. If students choose to break the rules
for bus conduct it will result in disciplinary action which may include the loss of bus
privileges for a stipulated period of time, or on a permanent basis.

We take a serious view of conduct which falls short of the required standard. Violations of
the above rules and regulations will result in disciplinary action, which could include
suspension and expulsion.
