WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY

"Pretty please prevent pneumonia to protect
precious lives!" The members of SNPhA
always try to promote better health for our
community one condition at the time. One
way we do this is through small gestures to
encourage people to spread the word!

MUNDELEIN COMMUNITY
HEALTH FAIR
A few of our members joined together
with the Mundelein community to help out
at their annual free health fair. We
provided countless numbers of influenza
vaccinations to dozens of families and
answered any questions they had on the
flu.
STRENGTH IN
PURPOSE!
Everyone has a reason or a passion
for pharmacy and as members of
SNPhA, we want to utilize those
motivations to help educate our
community. We are a growing
organization and there may be
strength in numbers, but what
makes us unique is our strength in
purpose for pharmacy!

WHAT WE DID IN 2018?

The 2018 school year has come and gone, but it was
not without hard work and new experiences. As the

in 2018! The fall quarter was filled with activities, but one of our
biggest priorities was to encourage the incoming class
of new pharmacy students and upperclassmen to join
our community and underserved population focused
organization.

WE LOVE OUR
HEALTH FAIRS!
Diabetes chair, Yelena Sahakian
and immunization chair, Brisilda
Bylykbashi collaborated with the
National Kidney Foundation at the
John A. Walsh Public School in
Chicago. The fair offered glucose
testings, urinalysis, A1C, BMI, and
blood glucose testing. The National
Kidney Foundation offers these
fairs all around Chicago and we
were happy to help volunteer our
time.
PRECEPTOR OF THE
YEAR!
One of the most pertinent parts of
pharmacy school is our IPPE
rotations. Our legislative chair,
Oriana Napoleon, nominated her
preceptor, John Kirklys, as
preceptor of the year and he was
given the honor! We definitely
appreciate all of our amazing
preceptors.

been excited to encourage our members to join in

FUNDRAISER
Our biggest fundraiser of 2018 was
SNPhA's Holiday Hot Cocoa Jars!
With such a big success, multiple
members and non-members
helped to hand make over 200 hot
cocoa jars! The money raised will
go to fund future SNPhA related
activities and fundraisers and a
portion of our profits will be
donated to a charity! Big thank you
to all the people who helped make
this fundraiser possible and for our
treasurer, Patrick Kuchta, for such a
great idea!
4TH ANNUAL
PHARMATHON
Our president, Shayda Ashraf,
treasurer, Patrick Kuchta, and P1
student  liaison, Javier Navarrete
participated on the College of
Pharmacy 4th Annual Pharmathon

increase women's heart health by
raising awareness for change to

wide! SNPhA members and non-

to hear back from them about all of
the things they have experienced
and learned. Much more will be
happening in 2019 and it will be a
