is attained in longitudinal or transverse direction taking friction forces into account

The indicated values only apply in conjunction with the matching reinforcement shown on page 11.

When using the JDSDQ connector, the design resistance for the concrete load-bearing capacity (see table) must be multiplied by the factor
μ = 0,9 to be on the safe side for the combination of longitudinal and transverse displacement. Our calculation software is also available
for calculating the best possible shear connector for any application (see page 12).

The type 20 HF is only available in the form of the JDSD 20 HF shear connector, which only permits longitudinal displacement.

JORDAHL Double Shear Connectors JDSD 25 HF were
used for the renovation of the floor slabs in hall 8 in
order to transmit the high shear forces which occur
at construction joints and expansion joints.

Underground car park, Hamburg Bergedorf
The garages were built as a site-placed concrete
construction which partially featured filigree floors.
Double Shear Connectors JDSD and JDSDQ were
used to transmit the high shear forces. They deliver
a reliable connection between floor slabs and wall
slabs / columns and between floor slabs. The use of
filigree floors in conjunction with Double Shear
Connectors JDSD / JDSDQ significantly increases
cost-effectiveness.
Metropolitan, Warsaw
The picture shows a site-placed load-bearing con-
crete framework in which flat ceiling structures are
used. Double shear connectors were used in order
to transmit the shear forces across the expansion
joints of the ceiling. As a result, it was no longer nec-
essary to use additional supports at the joints. Dur-
ing the project, the company carrying out the con-
struction work was particularly pleased with the
quick and easy installation of the double shear con-
nectors even under complex geometric conditions.

Slab-to-beam-to-support connection
Structural expansion joints in frame corners
In long buildings it is often necessary to introduce a
separation by means of structural expansion joints.
Traditionally, this division of the building into sec-
tions demands a support before and after the ex-
pansion joint. These are referred to as double sup-
ports or double columns. However, using the dou-
ble shear connectors means that one of the sup-
ports can be omitted. This reduces costs, shortens
construction time and increases the available floor
space. (Shown without reinforcement)
Beam-to-slab connection
Football stadium, Manchester
During alterations to this football stadium in Man-
chester, double shear connectors were used in the
renovation work to establish the beam-to-slab con-
nections. They were chosen as a cost-saving and
simple solution, and also proved their worth from
an architectural point of view as an elegant alterna-
tive to double frames or corbel supports. Here, dou-
ble shear connectors were required in order to
transmit the high shear forces from the ceiling
beams to the supports.

Connections in bridge abutments
Double shear connectors are used for connection
and alignment of bridge load-bearing structures and
bridge abutments. Installation is significantly simpli-
fied as a result, and the double shear connectors
subsequently make it easier to lift the road surface in
order to change the bearings. (Shown without rein-
forcement)
Slab-to-balustrade connection
The use of shear connectors in the vertical joints of
balustrades is a simple and cost-effective solution
for connecting sections with each other. Double
shear connectors also permit a certain degree of Single shear
twisting in the joints without reducing the horizontal connector
shear capacity.
