Cloud Computing:
Cloud is hosted computing environment that delivers software, platform or
infrastructure services to business users via network

In plain terms is the ability for end users to utilize parts of bulk resources and
that these resources can be aquired quickly and easily

three distinct categories within cloud computing

SaaS
PaaS
IaaS

Software as a Service
Platform as a Service
Infrastu as a Service

Characterstics of cloud:
Ondemand self service, it should give ability to signup anytime and provide
services without any delay to end users via network.

Cloud modules:
Software that is deployed over the internet
PaaS: Can be defined as a computing platform that allows the creation of web
applications quickly and easily and without the complexity of buying and
maintaining the software and infrastructure underneath it.
IaaS: Is a way of delivering cloud computing infrastructure - servers, storage,
network and operating systems - as an on-demand service.

-----------------------------------------------
Cloud platform vs On premise
-----------------------------
On Premise applications
1. Upfront investment
2. Customer owned upgrades and patching
3. Data center and hardware costs including disasater recovery
3. Costly customization created and maintained
4. Annual support cost
5. Retention of Own/IT Subcontracto staff required.
6. Managing own network security and access.
7. Outdated softwrae resulting in missed business benefit

Cloud Platform:
---------------
1. Rent flexible service/ pay as you grow
2. Standard security and access anywhere/whenever
3. Business super users rather than IT support
4. Embeded modern best practice processes.
5. No upgrades but latest functionoalities via regular releases.

system administrative functions.

Cloud deployment versus on-premise (Saas)

------------------------------------------
- Cloud customers have no access to
Database
JDEv
Application Development Framework
Enterprise Manager and Application Server
Java or PL/SQL code
Service Oriented Architecture SOA Suite.
No access to OBIEE or OBIA
cannot configure new data structure
Are provisioned two environments: Test or stage and prod.
Are offered service on a subscription basis for public cloud
Are offered services internally, behind a firewall for private cloud.

Oracle Cloud Change Management (SaaS)

--------------------------------------
- Regular Maintenance
Oracle cloud operations reserves regular maintenance windows targeted to occur
during the statiscally lightest utilization period for the deployment region.
- Emergency maintenance
Oracle emergency maintenance to maintain operation security etc.,

Patching and upgrades:

Patch bundles are applied monthly: 1st friday on test and 3rd friday on prod.
Technology stack fixes, if necessary are applied on 2nd and 4th friday of the
month.

Upgrades:
Two upgrades are provided each year
Cloud fusion application release numbers ar esame as on-premise
A cloud upgrade may include multiple releases.
Oracle communicates logistics and whats new information
