Alphabet Key

alphabet. n. 1 a set of letters or other signs used in a writing system, usually arranged in a fixed
order, each letter or sign being used to represent one or sometimes more than one phoneme in the
language being transcribed. 2 any set of symbols or characters,
What is the function of alphabet key?
A computer keyboard is an input device used to enter characters and functions into the computer
system by pressing buttons, or keys. It is the primary device used to enter text. A keyboard typically
contains keys for individual letters, numbers and special characters, as well as keys for specific
functions

COMPUTER NUMBER KEY

A numeric keypad, number pad, numpad, or ten key, is the palm-sized, 17-key section of a
standard computer keyboard, usually on the far right. It provides calculator-style efficiency for
entering numbers.
What is the number key on a keyboard?
Num Lock or Numeric Lock (⇭) is a key on the numeric keypad of most computer keyboards. It is a
lock key, like Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. Its state (on or off) affects the function of the numeric
keypad commonly located to the right of the main keyboard, and is commonly displayed by an LED
built into the keyboard.

Space bar
The space bar, spacebar, blank, or space key is a key on a typewriter or alphanumeric keyboard in
the form of a horizontal bar in the lowermost row, significantly wider than other keys. Its main purpose
is to conveniently enter a space, e.g., between words during typing
Alternatively referred to as space and the space key, the spacebar or space baris a
long horizontal key on the lower edge of a keyboard. It is always the largest and longest
key on the keyboard. When the spacebar key is pressed, it creates an empty space, also
known as a space character or whitespace that helps separate words and other
characters in a sentences. For example, if there were not spaces in this paragraph, all of
the text would be together and very difficult to read.

Enter key
On computer keyboards, the enter key in most cases causes a command line, window form, or dialog
box to operate its default function. This is typically to finish an "entry" and begin the desired process,
and is usually an alternative to pressing an OK button
How is the Enter key used and what is its function?
The Enter key is most often used to return to the next line or start a new paragraph. For
example, when I press the Enter key at the end of this sentence, it starts the next
paragraph.
Below are some other examples and places the Enter key is used on a computer.
 Return to the next line or starts a new paragraph in a word processor.
 Submit a form. For example, on all search engines when you enter what you want to search for you can
press Enter without having to move the mouse to the search button.
 Activate a button or another object. For example, when navigating with a keyboard, you can press
the Tab key until a button is highlighted and once highlighted press the Enter key to press the button.
 Open a web page after a URL has been entered into a browser. For example, you can type
computerhope.com in the address bar and then press Enter to open the Computer Hope home page.
Backspace
Backspace is the keyboard key that originally pushed the typewriter carriage one position backwards,
and in modern computer systems moves the display cursor one position backwards, deletes the
character at that position, and shifts back the text after that position by one position.
Computers[edit]
Although the term "backspace" is the traditional name of the key which deletes the character to the
left of the cursor, the actual key may be labeled in a variety of ways, for example delete,[1] Erase (for
example in One Laptop Per Child),[2] or with a left pointing arrow.[3] A dedicated symbol for
"backspace" exists as U+232B ⌫ but its use as a keyboard label is not universal.
The backspace is distinct from the delete key, which in paper media for computers would punch out
all the holes to strike out a character, and in modern computers deletes text following it. Also, the
delete key often works as a generic command to remove an object (such as an image inside a
document, or a file in a file manager), while backspace usually does not.[4][5][6]
Common use[edit]
In modern systems, the backspace key is often mapped to the delete character (0x7f in ASCII or
Unicode), although the backspace key's function of deleting the character before the cursor
remains.[3]
The backspace key is commonly used to go back a page or up one level in graphical web or file
browsers.
delete key

The delete key is a key on most computerkeyboards which typically is used to delete either (in text
mode) the character ahead of or beneath the cursor, or (in GUI mode) the currently-selected object.
Where is delete button?
1. Deleting text in front of the cursor with the regular Delete key can be done by holding down the
Function, or fn key while pressing it.
2. You can also do this by pressing Control + D.
3. You can delete the entire word behind the cursor by pressing Control + Delete or Option + Delete.

Why do we use delete key?

Delete key. Often abbreviated as Del, the Delete key is used to remove characters and other
objects. On PCs, the Delete key generally removes the character immediately under the cursor (or to
the right of the insertion point), or the highlighted text or object.
Cursor
A cursor is the position indicator on a computerdisplay screen where a user can enter text. In an
operating system with a graphical user interface (GUI), the cursor is also a visible and
moving pointer that the user controls with a mouse, touch pad, or similar input device.
Mouse cursor
The pointer or mouse cursor echoes movements of the pointing device, commonly
a mouse, touchpad or trackball. This kind of cursor is used to manipulate elements of graphical user
interfaces such as menus, buttons, scrollbars or any other widget. It may be called a "mouse pointer,"
because the mouse is the dominant type of pointing device used with desktop computers.

cursor control key

Arrow keys or cursor movement keys are buttons on a computer keyboard that are either
programmed or designated to move the cursor in a specified direction
What are the cursor control keys?
Cursor control keys are buttons on a computer keyboard that move the cursor. They are often
considered to be synonymous with arrow keys, but there is a slight difference; the cursor keys are
usually several keys that can be used for the movement of the cursor, like the WASD combination.
Caps lock
Caps Lock is a button on a computer keyboard that causes all letters of Latin-based scripts to be
generated in capitals. It is a toggle key: each press reverses its action. Some keyboards also
implement a light, so as to give visual feedback about whether it is on or off.
What do you mean by Caps Lock key?
Caps lock is a feature nearly all keyboards have that, when active, capitalizes each letter typed on
the keyboard. Unlike most keys on the keyboard, the caps lock key is a "toggle key,"
which is always in either an on or off position. When off, the letters typed are input like usual.

Num lock
Num Lock or Numeric Lock is a key on the numeric keypad of most computer keyboards. It is a lock
key, like Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. Its state affects the function of the numeric keypad commonly
located to the right of the main keyboard, and is commonly displayed by an LED built into the
keyboard.
When Num Lock is enabled, you can use the numbers on the keypad. When Num Lock is
disabled, pressing those keys activates those key's alternate function. For instance, the
arrow keys on the keypad may only be used if Num Lock is disabled. The picture shows
what the Num Lock key with a LED may look like on a keyboard.
Shift key
The shift key is a modifier key on a keyboard, used to type capital letters and other alternate "upper"
characters. There are typically two shift keys, on the left and right sides of the row below the home
row.
How to use the Shift key
To use the Shift key to capitalize letters, press and hold the Shift key, and push the
letter you want to capitalize. On U.S. keyboards, hold Shift and press the numbers on
the top of the keyboard to type the alternate symbols (e.g., !, @, #, and $) of those
keys.
Tip: On most computers (except those running OS X) if the Caps Lock key is enabled
and you press the Shift key and a letter the letter will be lowercase.
The Shift key is also used with shortcut keys. For example, holding down the Shift key
and pressing the arrow keys will highlight text in the direction of the arrow key you
press. Below are other examples of shortcuts that use the Shift key.
