Show #1
Opening Skit:
Mannequin challenge- Everyone will be frozen in place some will be in the control room and some will
be in the studio itself. The camera will start in the control room and gradually look at each person and
then move into the studio and look at everyone and then end on the anchors and the show will start.

Opener/Monologue:
Good afternoon, Loras College! Welcome to DuTalk with Duhawks. I’m Anna Johnson, and this is my
cohost, Cole Hansen. He’s here when he decides to skip his scheduled 4:00 nap. Anyways, before we start
today’s show, I’d like to just catch up with all of you for a minute. You’re probably thinking, oh my gosh,
it’s 4:00 PM already… where has the day gone? Well, it’s amazing how time flies when you’re
deliberately avoiding everything you have to do. That’s right, you’re not fooling anyone. You probably
turned on this talkshow after you finished the next season of ______ on Netflix, but it’s okay. We
understand.
When you aren’t avoiding it, how is your semester going? Well, here’s how we’ve been… (clip of Ross
from Friends… “I’m Fine”)
Either way, good luck guys. You’ve only got 4 Fridays left until Christmas break. You can bust out the
figgy pudding and other festivities pretty soon. Until then, we have a special guest on the show from our
very own Loras College Activities Board to clue you in on what you shouldn’t miss out on between now
and then. Please welcome ______.

Interview Questions:

Host: Hi! Welcome! Thank you so much for coming!

Guest: It’s a pleasure to be here!

Host: So, as we know, you’re a member of CAB

Guest: Yes

Host: And what’s your position? What do you do?

Guest: Well, I ________.

Host: Wow, that’s really cool. So, students benefit from from your work…

Guest: Yes, because ______.

Host: And anyone can get involved?

Guest: Anyone! _______

Host: Amazing. So, finally, tell me, what’s coming up on campus? What’s CAB working on for the
students right now?

Guest: Well, ________.

Host: I’ll have to make sure to check it out! Thank you so much, but before you leave, let’s play a quick
game! The 5 Second Rule!

Word Association:
Host: We’ll give you a list of things one at a time, and your job is to respond with the first word that
comes to mind within 5 seconds. Sounds good?

Guest: Yeah!
Host: Feel free to play along at home as well folks!

College Hacks:

Host: Being a college student this days is a pretty hard thing to do people. Long nights, lack of
sleep and a lot of ramen are how you can describe most nights for a college student. To help ya’ll
make this a less painful and more enjoyable experience we have some pretty sweet college hacks
that will help you dominate college!
Host: As a college student you must expect that some days time will be something limited.
Going to the café will often be sacrificed for the sake of finishing the three essays due at twelve.
Host: Hack number one! Have food in your dorm, and I am not just talking about that jar of
Nutella you won’t let your roommate touch. I am talking about something you can pop in your
microwave at 3 am and get a nice warm almost homemade morning special.
Host: Now that winter’s coming and the weather is getting pretty chilly, another good thing that
will make college more bearable is having some hot coco or tea ready to drink. A box of instant
hot chocolate or some tea bags will do wonders for when you come back of the library at one in
the morning with your fingers frozen.
Host: The beginning of the semester always seems easy, small assignments and barely any
exams. My third hack of the day is to build your GPA since the beginning of the semester, this
way when you have to hand in 6 essays and need to study for 8 exams, you will be secure that if
you mess up you won’t fail the class. Those small assignments you avoid doing because you like
to nap… they save you at the end.

Caption This:
It’s time once again for Caption This, the segment where we search the internet for pictures that just need
some explaining.
We posted these photos to social media to see what you had to say about them, and these are some of
your best responses.

Responses:
HORSE:
-When your head says stay in bed, but your body says go to your 8am.
-When bae says you cute
-When you get way too creative about presentation
-When you try to submit to eLean one minute too late
-When you walk all the way to Hennessey and find out your class was cancelled
-When you say “Do What?” and they say Duhawks!
-When you need dinner at the cafe but it’s Saturday

NOODLE GUY:
-When you need dinner at the cafe but it’s Saturday
-When you’re an engineering student and don’t want to do dishes.
-When you spent all your money for dishes on alcohol and beard gel.
-When you go to eat that 8th bowl of ramen this week and realize you never did the dishes.

Sports Interview/Challenge
Host: So Cam, what sport do you play again?
Cam: Football
Cole: Whats a football? Does it involve my foot?
Cam: Uh no, it’s a little more complicated than that.
Cole: So whens the big championship?
Cam: I mean they usually don’t let you go to the championship when you win one game.
Cole: Wait, you didn’t make it to state? How is that varsity cheerleader supposed to fall in love with you
now.
Cam: Uh Who?
Cole: So Cam do you expect to continue your career at the college level.
Cam: Cole, you do realize we’re both in college now. We’re talking about the Loras football team.
Cole: You apply to any big colleges yet champ? Any D1 schools looking at you.
Cam: This is ridiculous I’m leaving
*Cam starts to remove mic and leave*
Cole: Wait Cam, we’ve got one last thing to do before you go. I challenge you to a game of trashketball.

Ok Cam lets do something a little more exciting. The team has arranged a little challenge for the two of
us.

*Cut to Cam and Cole standing near the garbage cam*

Alright Cam, you and I are going to play the ever classic trash can basketball. We’ve each got three shots,
each from a further distance than the next. Whoever makes more in the basket wins. You ready?

(The two shake hands)

Host: Wow. You two are truly athletes. Great job to both of you! However, the real challenge is yet to
come. Cole and Cameron the fans voted, and they want to see you get into a lip synce duel.

Cole: Show me the results. I don’t believe you.

Host: Well you asked for it guys, heres Cole and Cam singing Pony.

Cole: Hold up a second, _____ get up here, we're not doing this without you.

Closer: And…. that’s just about all of the awkward lip syncing we can handle in the time we have today.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the show and thank you all so much for tuning in. Until next time,
Be More Be Loras.

Show #2
Opening Skit: Displayed on the board is the homework that is due after thanksgiving break. Students
(crew members) are looking back and forth at the clock and then the professor. Students daydreaming
about turkey dinner, pumpkin pie, and time with family. Professor is rambling on about something that
no one is paying attention to. Professor dismisses class and everyone runs from the classroom to the
studio, puts on headphones and microphones, and then starts the show.

Opener/Monologue:
Good afternoon, Loras College! Welcome to DuTalk with Duhawks. I’m Anna Johnson, and this is my
cohost, Cole Hansen. We’ve got a great show planned for you today because it is our Thanksgiving
special! Rather than stuffing your turkey, we’re going to stuff the next 10 minutes with a whole bunch of
hopefully interesting information and a few smiles to get you through the next couple of days until break.
We only have 18 hours, 37 minutes and…. 6 seconds until 3:00 on Tuesday, but I mean, who’s counting?.
Hopefully you’re all done with classes by then.

I don’t know about you guys, but since the pace has picked up this semester, the only thing I’ve really
been managing is my breathing so no one knows how much I struggle walking up stairs… I mean,
seriously! If there is one thing this campus has, it’s stairs. You’d think that we’d all have the best looking
backsides in the city at least, but the hours we spend laying around watching Netflix seem to counteract
the progress… oh well. Since Thanksgiving is coming up, that “diet” we’ve all been working on is about
to go out the window anyway.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, the turkey-tastic holiday is notorious for good eating, but we all know the
struggles of living in dorms and depending on the Cafe to keep you alive. When your student loans come
in and you can eat outside of the Cafe again, you’ll probably look to some finer dining… Luckily, we
have a guest here today that has mastered the art of the dorm room Thanksgiving meal! Please, give a
warm welcome to dorm meal expert, Amber Krieg.

Thanksgiving Meal Interview:

[Amber walks in with some background music maybe, shakes hands with host, sits down]
Host: Hello, Amber. Welcome to the show!
Amber: Thank you so much for having me!
Host: Really we’re so thankfu that you’re here because everyone out there is wondering what cool recipes
you have for us today! But let me just start by refreshing my memory… you are a freshman here at
Loras?
Amber: Yes, yes I am!
Host: So, this is the first year you’ve decided to make a dorm room Thanksgiving meal?
Amber: Yes. Yup!
Host: Any particular reason you thought of this or…?
Amber: Well, a few of my friends were complaining about the café food, and they kept telling me how
excited they were for a home cooked meal over break, so eventually, I got the idea that I should try to find
some way to help them out a bit.
Host: By dormroom expert cooking?
Amber: Yes, you could say that!
Host: Wow, that’s so cool. And, what recipes do you have for us today?
Amber: Well, today, I’ve prepared a turkey, mashed potatoes, and even pumpkin pie. All of which can be
made in a microwave.
Host: Amazing.
Amber: So for your turkey, you probably can’t fit an entire turkey in your microwave, so instead, you’ll
want to buy a smaller bird. I’d suggest a turkey breast. Before cooking it, you’ll want to coat it in either
butter or olive oil, as well as a seasoning. The seasoning can be simple, you can even use a dry salad
dressing mix. Now when you’re microwaving it, you’ll have to put it in a microwave bag. You can get
those at a supermarket for just a couple dollars. For every pound that your meat weighs, you’ll have to
cook it for 10 minutes. When you’re done cooking it, let it sit for 15 minutes before taking it out of the
bag, and voila!

Now your potatoes are going to be pretty simple. You’ll want to scrub your potato, then stick it with a
fork all over the potato. Put it on a paper towel inside the microwave and start cooking. This will probably
take about 15 minutes or so, but once it’s tender enough to run a knife through with ease, you can take it
out of the microwave, put it in a larger bowl and mix it together with milñk, butter, or any other prefered
dressings and serve!

Now for dessert, you’ll probably want some pumpkin pie. You’ll need a few more ingredients, but the
prep is simple. *GRAPHIC?* You will need
-1 egg
-1 cup of canned pumpkin
-2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
-1 tablespoon sugar
-½ teaspoon salt
-1 tablespoon graham cracker crumbs

Make sure you have a microwave safe mug first, but mix all of the ingredients into a mug until they’re
smooth. You’ll have to keep an eye on it, but you can pop it in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes.
When it’s done, you’ll probably want to let it cool for a while, but feel free to top it with whipped cream
or a pumpkin spice.

And there you have a dorm room Thanksgiving meal!

Host: Wow, sounds delicious! Now I’m really craving pumpkin pie. Thank you so much, Amber, for
coming onto the show with us today! But before you go, let’s play a quick game of Caption This!

(graphic optional)

Host: Today’s “Caption this” really portrays the true spirits of the holidays. Amber, “Caption This.”
Or

Amber; (Captions it)

When the whole family is roasting you during Thanksgiving dinner
When you just wanted a leg but the whole family already took them all
When the family keeps asking if you have a girlfriend yet
When the your mom is gossiping about you and you are at the table
Host: Thanks again, Amber for being with us today! We sent out this photo on social media to see what
all of you viewers at home would think, and these are some of our favorite responses.

(List a few responses)

Host: Earlier you all learned how to cook the perfect Thanksgiving dinner in your dorm-room, but now
we have a guest who can teach you how to create the perfect decor for your meal! ____, thank you for
joining us!

Guest: Oh, it’s great to be here!

Host: So, what have you got for us today?

Guest: Well, I thought I’d start out with the outside and work our way in. A cute way to really show your
fellow hall residents that you mean holiday business is by making your door into a turkey.

Host: Sounds difficult.

Guest: Actually, it can be really easy! All you need is some colored paper and some scissors. This can be
as intricate or as simple as you want it to be. After creating two eyes and the beak, make sure to cut out a
variety of different colors for the feathers. Everyone will walk by your room knowing you are celebrating
right!

Host: That’s such a great idea!

Guest: I’m just getting started! Using some more colored paper, you can cut out some leave shaped
patterns, I have a couple examples here, and write things you are thankful for on one side. Then, you can
use some tape and put them up on your walls to remind yourself everyday to give thanks! Create your
own thanksgiving tree in your room!

Host: You could even get your friends to write some for you, too!

Guest: Yes, exactly, spread the spirit. Put blank leaves on the wall outside your dorm and have people
write when they pass by!

Host: Exactly!

Guest: Finally, as a little desk or shelving decoration, get some pinecones, googly eyes, feathers, and felt
or paper. Cut the paper into little triangles and place those onto the very tip of the pinecone. Then, glue
the eyes above it and the feathers onto the back and voila! You have a turkey! This could be a fun
activity that you do with your roommate and other friends on your floor!

Host: Wow! So cute!
