Components Co. Calibration / Verification of Issue No. 3 1/10/07
Dial Gauges
1. Clamp a dial gauge into a stand and set it at zero by putting a 1.00 mm.
slip below to its plunger.
2. Now put a slip at 1.01 mm. below to its plunger and note the reading in
observation sheet
3. Increase the size slip by least count of Dial Gauge (0.01 mm.) and up to
0.10 mm. and record the all readings in observation sheet.
4. Now dial gauge set again the zero by Slip 1.0 mm.
5. Increase the size of slip by 0.10 to 1.00 mm. and note all observation in
Calibration sheet.
Gauge Plates
3. Now move the gauge plate horizontally and note the variation in dial
gauge in observation sheet. If variation crosses the limit of acceptance
criteria, grind the gauge plate.
Master Rings
2. Note all the dimensions and specifications, which are described on master
3. Take drawing of this symbol and note all dimensions related to master.
4. Now set a dial gauge for any one dimension using slip gauge. Note the
variation of master in observation sheet.
Micrometer
2. Check the zero error in Micrometer if this is present & can’t be rectified;
subtract it from all further reading.
5. Increase the size slip by least count of Micrometer. E.g. 0.01 mm.
7. Keep on increasing the size till full range of Micrometer is covered or max.
Usable range is covered.
Vernier Caliper
4. Take a slip of specific size say 1.00 mm & measure it by Vernier Caliper.
6. Increase the size slip by least count of Vernier Caliper. e.g. 0.01 mm.
7. Measure next size of 1.01 with Vernier Caliper & record observation.
8. Keep on increasing the size till full range of Vernier Caliper is covered or
max. Usable range is covered.
