A Word A Week & A Proverb A Week Boards

1st March – 4th March 2016


Word – Serenity
Meaning: the absence of mental stress or anxiety
Example: The surrounding waters and beautiful pools that surround the hotel create a real
sense of calm and luxurious serenity.
Proverb – The early bird catches the worm
Meaning: The quicker one / first in line gets the opportunities
Example: He reached first and picked up the best deal. The early bird caught the worm.

7th March – 11th March 2016


Word- Getaway
Meaning: a place away from home where you can relax
Example: We’re planning a weekend getaway to the mountains.
Proverb - Beggars can’t be choosers
Meaning: A needy person should accept what is offered without complaining.
Example: She was complaining about the amount of money they had sent. I asked her to
accept gratefully what she has got – Beggar’s can’t be choosers.

12th March – 20th March 2016 – School Breaks


21st March – 25th March 2016
Word- Abolish
Meaning: to put an end to
Example: There are still places around the world where they need to abolish slavery.
Proverb: As you make your bed, so you must lie in it.
Meaning: Be prepared to face the consequences of your wrong actions.
Example: To full his dreams, he had left his parents alone in their old age. Now his son wants
to go abroad with his wife and settle there. He has made his bed, now he must life in it.
28th March – 31st March 2016
Word - Accompany
Meaning: to go along with something or someone
Example: If Jim can get off work, he will accompany me on the trip.
Proverb - Art is long, life is short.
Meaning: Life is too short to learn all the art in this world.
Example: She always complained of getting bored. I advised her to learn some music or
painting. After all, Art is long, life is short.
