Check online and also check the presets, otherwise this is one of the great
stereo imaging plugin.
Sound toy
1. Soundtoys filter freak: This plugin is grate for gluing sort of molding a
sound (im not gonna use it that much). The presets have amazing
filtering movement!!!

SONOX OXFORD
Great thing about oxford plugins is their transparency, meaning you can
overuse them without actually realizing them.
1. Sonox dynamic native: this plugin has more in one, but my favourite
thing with it is that you can compress a vocal quiet heavily and without
hearing the compression effect.
This plugin is actually ideal for vocals; one can also warm up vocals in
just one plugin.
2. Oxford EQ : comes with 4 types: type 1 sounds like the 80's console (SSL
400 for instance) the eq boost and cut have the identical q-band
Type 2: on this one, the cut is narrower or tighter that boost, this is good for
taking out problem frequencies
Type 4: this is kind of a mastering EQ, It has a wide curves, so its gentle for
tweaking in mastering stage.
Type 5 : this is modelled after GML-EQ (outboard EQ). This one the frequency
goes up to 26 kHz. This serves vocals with a nice air if that is what you are
after.
Remember if you dealing with EQ, back off a little bit if you are overloading, do
not just boost.
Softube
1. Console 1 : this is a channel stripe plugin and has a sound like that of an
SSL 400 console. This plugin needs hardware to work.
2. Drawmer 1973: is a multiband compressor used either for an individual
track or bus
4. Fix doubler: this works a doubler (creates a duplicate signal) and with
dual sweep turned on, the duplicated signal is panned left and right and
the original remaining in the centre creating even a nicer effect.
6. Tube-Tech PE 1C: This is like a pultec eq. Tube-tech has only two
frequency bands (High and low end). It’s interesting for adding a 100Hz
to a kick drum
8. Tube-Tech Classic Channel: This is sort of a pultec channel strip (Eq and
compressor in one).
11.TSAR-1R Reverb: Beautiful for creating small reverbs (using a short pre-
delay and reverb) to add a nice small reverb for the drums. Long hall
reverbs can also be added to for instance those sustained synths, pads
and stuff.
12. Mutator: this plugin emulates a nice wobbling tremolo effect on a sound
13. Saturation Knob: This plugin helps beef up the sound to make it sit in
the mix without affecting the volume. This is actually great because it
noticeably raises the RMS loudness and drops down the peak volume of
audio.
14. Focusing EQ: This is a combination of an active and passive equalizer and
then a saturation knob. You can switch back and forth between the two
modes to get the sound you want.
15.Spring verb: This is also a nice reverb plugin, especially for guitars or
other sounds according to your liking. Remember, anything you do in
mixing listen to it in the mix not just on its own. It has to groove with the
mix
17. Summit Audio TLA-100A: This is a tube based levelling compressor with
additional features that make it outstanding. The option to choose
between fast attack (when dealing with fast transients), fast or slow
releases as well as the audio requires.
There is also a low cut option to prevent the compressor circuit from
being triggered by low frequencies, meaning things like kick drums and
bass sound come out nicely without being tamed by the compressor.
18. Tonelux Tilt Live: This is a quick toning EQ that lets you deal quickly with
issues of tone in terms of frequencies
19. Trident A-Range: This is a great EQ for guitars. Well it can be used for
other things such as drums, etc, as well.
KLANGHELM
Let’s look at UV meters in general first. These are averaging volume units
meters. They are fairly accurate for metering steady state sounds , but sound
with some kind of quietness (drums) may be indicate lower levels than the
actual peak energy in the recording. DBfs (Db full scale) has a lot in common
with PPM (peak power meters).
PPM will show you peak spikes that may be missed by VU meters. VU
is volume unit, and is an analogue measurement. To convert from
dBFS to dBVu, o dBVu is equal to somewhere between -18 to -22 dBfS
depending on your converter. This means that if a VU meter niddle
hits odBs, that indicates -18dBs in dBfs. You can prove this if you have
an analogue console.
With VU, you can go above 0Db. When compressing, the threshold
value is actually the RMS value and when we compressing we have a
special interest in the levelling of the RMS value. However, when we
limiting we want to tame the peak values.
The other common unit is LUFS (loudness unit full scale). These is the
meter you would instantiate along with the true peak meter in the
master channel to see what is the actual level before the record
leaves the DAW.
With the LUFS meter, you can read off the momentary loudness,
short term, the LU range (the difference in loudest and quietest
points of the signal) AND the integrated, which measures the whole
thing from press play to whatever point at which you stop. The song
that is in a good loudness level is the one that has an integrated LUFS
value of -11dBs and momentary level of around -9dBs.
1. Klanghelm VU meter:
With this plugin, you can change the reference point from -18dBs for
instance -10dBs. When used for mastering, you set the limiter ceiling
point (i.e. -1dB) and then adjust the threshold all the way to a point
where it’s loud enough without losing the dynamics of the track or a
channel. With this plugin you can also use the trim control to increase
the volume of the signal without having to attenuate anything with a
limiter. NOTE, use the volume automation the tame highest peaks in
the audio file.
2. Klanghelm SDRR:
This one of the saturation plugins with four different colours, namely
tube, Digi, Fuzz and desk. It also comes with a whole lot of presets to
choose from and tweak as needed.
