PROPHETIC MIRROR PROBABILITY

PURPOSE OF THIS PAPER

For those who are familiar with the prophetic mirror that is the result of the two 2520 year
periods, one for Israel and one for Judah, we provide further evidence of the Providence that has
ordered these prophecies. Specifically, we have examined the likelihood that each of the dates in the
prophetic mirror would have the particular attributes that they do. That is, each of the years
represented in the prophetic mirror follow an embolismic year on the biblical calendar. More
specifically, the 1D 1M that commences the years 742, 723, 677, 457 BC, 538, 1798, 1844 and 1863 AD
follows a thirteenth month on the biblical calendar. We examine the probability of this occurrence in
detail.

THE DATES ON THE PROPHETIC MIRROR

The 65-year prophecy of Isaiah 7:8-9 is 742 BC. For Israel, this is fulfilled in 723 BC, with the
captivity of Hoshea (2 Kings 17:3-4) and for Judah in 677 BC, with the captivity of Manasseh (2
Chronicles 33:11). These latter two dates begin periods of 2520 year that end in 1798 and 1844,
respectively. The 65 years from 742 to 677 is divided into periods of 19 and 46 years. We find then that
the end of the 2520-year periods has the 46 and 19 years in reverse, ending in 1863. Each of the 2520-
year periods is also divided. For Israel, this is the 1260 years for the scattering of the power of the holy
people from 723 BC to 538 AD (Daniel 12:7) and the 1260 years for papal supremacy, from 538 to
1798. For Judah the 2520 years is divided into a 220-year period from 677 to 457 BC and a 2300-year
period from 457 to 1844. These we illustrate below.

OCCURRENCE OF EMBOLISMIC YEARS

The months of the Hebrew calendar follow the cycle of the moon, beginning with the first visible
crescent on the evening of the first day of each month. Since the moon follows a cycle of 29.53 days, on
average, the months vary between 29 and 30 days in length. A period of twelve months is, on average,
354 days, being 11 days short of a solar year. To keep the feasts of the LORD aligned with the seasons,
every second or third year an extra month or leap month is added at the end of the year, making that
year embolismic. This occurs 7 times in every 19-year period. That is, the chance of any one year being
embolismic is 19/7 or 1:2.7. If you were to pick any two years, the chances that they would be
embolismic years would be 1:7.4. In the instance of each of the years on the prophetic mirror, we find
that they all share a common feature, in that the year follows an embolism. That this would occur
randomly is 1:2946, in that we simply multiply 2.714285 eight times – 2.714285 x 2.714285 x
2.714285 x 2.714285 x 2.714285 x 2.714285 x 2.714285 x 2.714285 = 2946.
Another way to look at this is that if we were to simply pick random dates, eight of them, we would
have to do this nearly 3000 times, on average, before we would pick eight years that followed an
embolismic year. This does not take into account the probability of the events and the prophecies
themselves. That is, there are no subjective elements brought into the equation. The probabilities are
purely objective and mathematical in nature.

EQUINOX TO FIRST VISIBLE CRESCENT

Not only does each of the years on the prophetic mirror follow a thirteenth month but also they
only very narrowly do so. This takes some explanation. The biblical calendar begins the first day of the
first month (Nisan 1 or 1D 1M) by observing the first visible crescent after the spring equinox.1 That is,
if the last day of the twelfth month (this being either Adar 29 or 30) occurs after the spring equinox, the
new year will commence with the sighting of the first visible crescent. If, however, the last day of the
twelfth month occurs before the spring equinox, a second Adar (Ve’adar) or thirteenth month is added.
The particular feature we want to notice about each of the years in the prophetic mirror is how close
the equinox and the sighting of the first visible crescent are in each instance. This could occur as much
as 29.53 days apart or minutes apart. In the case for the dates on the prophetic mirror, the equinox and
first visible crescent are between 2 hours and 41 minutes (closest) to 41 hours and 11 minutes
(farthest). The average distance between equinox and first visible crescent is nearly 14 days 18 hours.
For the years on the prophetic mirror, it is 16 hours and 44 minutes. That is, the addition of the extra
month preceding each of the years on the prophetic mirror just barely occurs. For example, in 677 BC
the visible crescent is seen on the evening of the equinox that occurred 17 hours and 44 minutes earlier.
If the equinox had occurred 6 hours and 16 minutes earlier, there would not have been a thirteenth
month added. The 1D 1M in 677 BC would have been March 29, instead of April 28.

DETERMINING THE ODDS

There are various ways we could determine the probability that each of these years would have
this particular feature. We could should how likely (or unlikely) that the particular amount of time by
which each embolism was need, as in our example with 677 BC. We have chosen to look at the
likelihood of the closeness of the spring equinox of the sighting of the first visible crescent. This is easily
quantifiable. When the astronomical equinox occurs after the sighting of the first visible crescent this
value is preceded by a minus sign.2 The simple calculation can thus be done. We take the number of
hours and minutes in a month (29.53 x 24 = 708.72). We then divide this number by the hours and
minutes between the equinox and the first visible crescent, to create the probability for each particular
year.

1
The determination of the equinox from a biblical perspective differs from that of modern astronomy. For the Hebrew, the equinox is
seen to occur by observation at sunset. Modern determination of the equinox is more precise. It is this determination that we are using
to calculate our odds.
2
In the two instances where the first visible crescent occurs after the equinox, 677 and 457 BC, some might question why a thirteenth
month was added. Would not the equinox be seen to have occurred at the same moment that the visible crescent appeared? This would
commence the day of the equinox and the first visible crescent being seen the following evening would begin the 1D 1M. We conclude
that for 677 and 457 that the thirteenth month would need to be added. We also wish to note that the Hebrew expression return of the
year [Teshuva Hashanah] is a reference to the equinox and not just the 1D 1M.
