1.We separate the failures into 4 parts: Logic failure, receiver failure, transmission failure and BT
failure. First we need to define the failure kinds according to the failed item then we begin the
analysis in details.
2. Receiver key parameters include: RX LEVEL、RX QUALITY、FLATNESS、AGC, BER, FER
etc.
Confirm the analyzer station has been set up:
Connect the product to Agilent 8960 by RF cable. The RF cable is plugged to the RF connector.
Configure the Agilent 8960 in Output on the channel, band and the RX level defective; make the
same thing for the product.
Note: Test on a good radio to get reference signal when you don’t know if the signal is right
Step1: Measure the output signal from RF Switch U5003 to check if the signal is right, EGSM

signal: measured from pin 3(Measure at L5010); DCS signal: measured from pin1 (measure at
L5017), PCS signal: measured from pin11 (measure at L5015), If wrong signal was detected,
measured the input signal to RF Switch U5003. If input signal to RF Switch U5003 was wrong, it
maybe P5001, R5010, R5011 value issue or soldering issue. If input signal to RF Switch U5003
was right, we should check whether it was caused by RF Switch U5003 poor soldering or control
signal (measure at C5015, C5016, C5019) have some problem. If control signal was wrong, it
maybe CPU soldering issue or component defect.
Step2: If the output signal from RF Switch U5003 was right, we should measure the signal to
transceiver (U5001). If wrong signal was detected, we should check L5010 (EGSM), L5017 (DCS),
L5015 (PCS) or parts around them.
Step3: If the output signal from L5010 (EGSM), L5017 (DCS), L5015(PCS) was right, we
should measured the signal of I&Q output from transceiver (U5001), If wrong signal was detected,
if maybe transceiver (U5001) soldering issue or value issue.
Step4: If no clear issue was found, we should downloading SW again or replace CPU (U1001)
and rewrite RF data in Meta.
When repair RX QUALITY、BER,if RX LEVER was right ,commonly,we will replace
transceiver (U5001), CPU(U1001)。
Audio signal input from Microphone, Microphone convert the voice signal to analog signal and
input to CPU (U1001). After A/D (convert analog signal to digital signal) in CPU, then the logic signal
will be processed in DSP section .Then the processed logic signal pass D/A converter, output four
signals (IQ) from CPU (U1001) to transceiver (U5001). The TX output signal from transceiver [pin
38(EGSM) & pin 39(DCS/PCS)] will flow to RF PA (U5002).
TX signals output from PA (U5002), flow through RF_SW (U5003) (Front-end module),
RF-Connector to antenna.

Step1: Measure the I/Q signal from CPU (U1001) to Transceiver IC (U5001). If the I/Q signal is
not good, check CPU soldering issue or value issue.
Step2: If I/Q signal is good, measure the output signal of Transceiver IC (U5001), if the signal is
not good, check Transceiver IC (U5001) soldering issue or value issue and parts around it.
Step3: If the signal output from Transceiver IC (U5001) is right, continue to measure the TX
signal at PA IC (U5002) input pin.
Step4: If the input signal PA IC (U5003) is good, continue to check output signal of PA.
Measure the output signal at pin13. If the output signal is not good, check PA and parts around PA;
Check the operating voltage “VBAT” and control signal from CPU.
Step5: If the output signal PA IC (U5003) is good, continue to check input signal of RF SW.
Measure the output signal at pin7. If the output signal is not good, check RF SW and parts around
RF SW; Check the control signal from CPU.
Step6: Check the antenna cable connecter is good or bad. Then measure TX signal at antenna
pin at last.
function.
¾ CPU generates VAFC to oscillator 26MHZ (X5001). After nine periods, oscillator 26MHZ
(X5001) generates 26MHZ clock signal to Transceiver (U5001). Transceiver (U5001) outputs
26MHz system clock signal to CPU (U1001) based on the 26M clock signal. After 32 clock
period, PMU (U1001) outputs RSTON signal to CPU (U1001).
¾ After CPU (U1001) relevant, it reads power on information from internal ROM and sends
0XFF, 0XBE, 0XBE, 0XBE through pin TXD0. If phone connects to computer with download
cable, PC sever will sends correct code to phone, then communication between PC and phone
is built. A *.bdl file will be downloaded to CPU RAM and ran. At last, a *.fdl file will be
downloaded to Flash (U4001).
¾ If no download cable was connected to phone, CPU will run the program in internal RAM.
