Content Area: Health
Grade Level(s): 9-12
Content Standard Addressed: HE H.S.7:Students will demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing
behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks.

Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose,
use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging
technologies

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): UDL could be implemented through the use of apps for students with
disabilities. For Example, students with auditory disabilities can use google voice to transcribe voice messages
from their teacher. Students in a wheelchair should have no trouble completing the assignment, but a peer
pro can be present to help them navigate through the slides.
Lesson idea implementation: For this project, the students will choose between the 6 CDC risk behaviors to
create a near pod presentation for the class. The project will be discussed two weeks before the final due
date to give the student enough time to work on it. They will present their topic in class, while the other
students actively participate. The total grade will be average between their presentation itself and their
participation as an audience member.

They will choose a risk behavior and discuss the background behind it. This can be anything from the
reasoning it’s so prevalent, to what can be done to reduce this specific risk. Be creative. Involve videos and
quiz questions. The presentation should be 6 to 10 slides in total. Feedback will be given to students
immediately after they present.

Reflective Practice: I feel this activity will engage student learning throughout the entire class. The presenter
will invest time finding out facts about his or her own topic, and then present this to the class using quiz
questions and interactive activities. This will also make the audience participate. Even with some risk
behaviors being repeated, each activity will be different so students will get a lot of practice learning and
applying the information.
