Safety & Work Preparation:


 Comply with EZZ STEEL permit to work system and all relevant safety precautions. Check whether it is
necessary to include instructions regarding stopping of running equipment and reinstating of same.
 Coordinate with other disciplines, i.e. operations shift supervisor, control room, etc.
 Inform the control room before starting any activity.
 Prepare required documentation (sketches, material requisition, etc.)
 Refer to EZZ STEEL Safety Procedure for more specific safety instructions.

 Never allow use of the belt feeder by not trained persons
 Never use the belt feeder if not psychophysically suitable
 Never use the belt feeder if not provided with suitable work dresses and personal protection
 Never approach the hands to the parts in movement
 Never use the belt feeder in not foreseen environment conditions
 Never use the belt feeder if lubrication grease of movable mechanical parts is polluted from dust or other
abrasive substances
 Never modify functional features of the belt feeder or its components
 Never modify or unsettle safety devices and / or introduce tampering of equipment
 Never use not original spare parts or parts not advised by the manufacturer
 Never charge not-trained personnel for maintenance and repair operations
 Never use unsuitable means or operate without personal protections
 Never use the belt conveyor if it doesn't not perfectly satisfy all operating functions
 Never remove protection and safety devices during functioning
 Never use the belt feeder if belt alignment and tension are not correct
 Never use the belt feeder if inner parts of machine have material accumulated during previous works or
however extraneous bodies
 Maintenance and adjustment operations must be exclusively executed with Bars inserted into rod gate,
with belt feeder empty and with machines switched-off and, where necessary, using the modal selector
switch, as indicated in machinery directive.
 Use safety belt as per location requirement.

 Clean the area before you begin to work.
 Assure the proper performance of the belt conveyors safety system (Zero speed switches, motor overload,
misalignment switches, rope switch, and starting alarm).
 The operator responsible of machine control, to keep always clear the work areas from any extraneous
equipment and to prohibit access to not authorized persons, in order to have ideal conditions of security
to work on the same.
 Protections are bolted to the frame so that they cannot be removed, only voluntarily and by personnel of
the maintenance, educated to effect the operations. The removal of protections/opening of inspection
doors, have to happen only after having switched off machine and stopped the general interrupter.

 Ensure work place is clean, all tools and test equipment is withdrawn.
 Visually check the nearby piping, tubes, valves and other equipment in the area, inform the control
room & foreman about any abnormalities.
 Ensure that the work permit is signed off, that maintenance supervisors are informed about all
observations, that test results are recorded on the appropriate check sheets and that maintenance
history is recorded on the work history section of the work order for input in Oracle eAM.
