Remote Oil Filter and Cooler Line Routing

Affected Models: All models equipped with a remote oil filter.

Issue/Background: Eaton® Fuller® has recently released a remote oil filter adapter for use on
heavy duty transmissions that have limited space for the standard adapter.
Some applications do not allow the standard oil filter adapter to be used
due to PTO, exhaust pipe location and etc. When servicing a vehicle
equipped with a remote oil filter adapter or when installing a remote oil filter
adapter, use caution when connecting the oil lines. If the oil filter adapter
is plumbed incorrectly the transmission could overheat causing failure.
Ports at the oil filter housing and transmission case are labeled “IN” and
“OUT”. The “OUT” port on the transmission case must be plumbed to the
“IN” port of the oil filter adapter. The “OUT” port of the oil filter adapter
must be connected to the oil cooler and return to the “IN” port of the
transmission case. (See example below) The oil cooler is designed to
allow flow in either direction.
