Chapter1: INTRODUCTION

The project is on the topic “privy council”. The research will include a detailed study about
the Privy Council, how it came into existence, its composition, its procedure and its
jurisdiction. The project will begin by explaining the act of judicial committee because of
which the Privy Council came into being.

Here, a few landmark cases like the case of Andrew Hunter will be taken into consideration,

Emphasis will be laid on the appeals made in the Privy Council from India, and then how it
was abolished post-independence.

Research Methodology: Doctrinal Sources will be used.

Hypothesis:

 The role played by the Privy Council is very significant in shaping the Indian law and
the judicial system.
