EXTERNAL CASING PACKER (ECP)
Product No. 040x-000000-DY

Continuous Mandrel ECP assemblies are designed with packer elements in 4 Foot (1.22m), 10
Foot (3.05m), and 20 Foot (6.10m) lengths. World Oil Tools packer elements soundly conform
to irregular or washed-out hole diameters. Steel reinforcement slats are used within the
elements to ensure that the ECP self-centers itself in vertical, deviated, or horizontal wellbores.
Tools are available in Standard and Special clearance models. Standard clearance tools are used
where higher differential pressures are encountered across the packer element. Special
clearance tools are used for applications where restricted hole diameters may occur.
Continuous Mandrel ECP assemblies are typically inflated with cement displacement fluid. An
integral screen prevents coarse particles from entering the valve system. The valves are
designed with high quality materials, which will not erode when abrasive materials are pumped
through the system.
The World Oil Tools valve system provides positive closing, after the element has been fully
inflated to pre-determined pressure. After the shear valve has shifted to the final closed
position, a mechanical locking device ensures that no further movement will occur.
World Oil Tools inflatable elements are available with Standard and Advanced elastomer
compounds. Standard elastomer compounds may be used for temperatures up to 240° F (115°
C). Advanced elastomer compounds are made available for applications in which temperatures
reach up to 350° F (180° C).
FEATURES
‰ The continuous one-piece mandrel eliminates the need for internal threaded connections.
‰ Mandrel specifications are identical to the casing used in the well.
‰ The Valve system is located above the packer element. Valve operation is not affected by
unpredictable pressure changes below the element.
‰ Superior anchoring system prevents element rotation, and packer shoe travel, while tools
are run into the well.
‰ World Oil Tools ECP’s are manufactured with high strength steel materials suitable for H2S
and CO2 environments.
‰ Shear pins in the valves may be easily replaced in the field, allowing the operator greater
flexibility when well conditions change.

APPLICATIONS
‰ To Prevent Loss of Cement
‰ To Prevent Gas Migration through Cement Columns
‰ To Prevent Unwanted Water Production
‰ To Minimize Damage To Sensitive Formations and Barefoot Completions
‰ For Centering Casing In Horizontal Wells
‰ Slotted Liners

HYDRAULIC STAGE COLLAR
Product No. 5100-000000-DA

The Hydraulic Stage Collar is used to effectively cement an upper section of the casing string
above an External Casing Packer (ECP) assembly. In some cases, a lead slurry is circulated
around the lower section of the casing string. For other applications, slotted liners or bare-foot
completions make cementing below the ECP unnecessary, or undesirable.
The stage collar is hydraulic opening. Circulating ports are opened by continuing to apply
internal casing pressure after the ECP is set. Normally, pressure required for opening the
circulating ports is adjusted to about 500 PSI (3.5 MPa) greater than the ECP operating
pressure. Circulating ports are closed by the cement displacement plug. The port closing sleeve
is positively locked in position after cementing. Internal parts are easily drilled to provide a full
opening bore through the port collar assembly.
FEATURES
‰ Hydraulic Stage Collar may be used in vertical, deviated or horizontal wells. No free-fall
plugs are required to operate the system
‰ The tool body is manufactured from alloy grade steel that is able to resist high bending
forces in the well radius
‰ When run above an ECP assembly, system is very effective for blocking gas migration
through cement, and for minimizing cement losses to thief zones
‰ Hydraulic Stage Collars are manufactured with the same thread specifications as customer
installed casing strings
‰ A latch ring positively locks closing sleeve in closed position
‰ Full opening bore is provided after drillout
‰ Locking plugs allow for quick drillout

OPERATING PROCEDURE
While running the casing string in the hole and during the cementing of the first stage, the stage
collar remains in the closed position. The first-stage flexible plug passes through the stage
collar without actuating the sleeves. To open the stage collar cementing ports, pressure is
applied in the casing to shear the opening sleeve shear screws and to move the sleeve down to
expose cementing ports.
Second-stage cement is then pumped and displaced with the closing plug. The closing plug
lands on the closing sleeve seat and pressure is applied to shear the closing sleeve shear pins and
force the sleeve down to close the cementing ports. The closing sleeve is permanently latched
in the closed position.

Casing Equipment
CUP TOOL
Product No. 0450-000000-DA

The Cup Tool Assembly is used for selectively inflating External Casing Packers (ECP). This
tool assembly is run into the well on a tubing string. Dual opposing cups are then positioned
across the ECP valve body, and pressure is applied to inflate the packer. A collar locator is
normally run with this tool in order to position the cups at the proper setting depth.
The cup tool allows External Casing Packers to be inflated with normal fluid or with cement.
Latch down plugs are used to separate the cement slurry from wellbore fluids. Also, latch down
plugs provide a positive indication when the plug lands at the tool.
The cup tool may also be used for cementing above a slotted liner. By using this tool, there are
no cement losses to the slotted liner, and no drillout is required after cementing the casing in
place.
The cup tool assembly may be used in vertical, deviated, or horizontal wells.
FEATURES
‰ Dual opposing cups ensure positive zone isolation downhole
‰ A fluid bypass passage is provided through the tool
‰ The system allows reverse circulation after a packer is cement inflated
‰ The tool may be used for setting several packers with just one trip in the well
APPLICATIONS
1. Setting External Casing Packers
The cup tool assembly may be positioned at the ECP, to set the packer. Several packers
may be set with just one trip in the well.
2. Inflating Packers with Cement
The cup tool assembly may be used to set the ECP using cement, as the inflation fluid.
Latch down plugs are used to separate the cement column form the well fluid.
3. Cementing Above a Slotted Liner
Cup tool assemblies are used to prevent loss of cement slurry into a production zone, when
slotted liners are used. The cup tool is used to inflate an ECP placed above the slotted liner,
and then the casing may be cemented above that packer, using the cup tool. No drillout is
required with this procedure, since all excess cement slurry is reverse circulated up the
tubing string.
OPERATING PROCEDURE
The cup tool assembly is run downhole with a collar locator threaded to the top of the tool, and
a plug catcher sub located at the bottom of the tool.
As the cup tool is run into the well, the tubing is allowed to fill. The well may be circulated at
any time while the tool is being run in. Also, fluid bypass ports around the cups allow pressure
to be equalized across the tool at all times.
The collar locator is used to determine the correct setting depth of the cup tool. Short marker
joints provide a positive indication of tool depth.
In order to apply pressure between the dual opposing cups, it is necessary to pump a latch down
plug to the tool. When the plug reaches the tool, pressure may be increased to set the packer.
After the packer has been set, additional pressure is applied to shear the latch down plug into the
plug catcher sub. The tubing may be reverse circulated once the latch down plug has been
sheared.
The cup tool may then be positioned across another packer and the procedure may be repeated,
or the tool may be retrieved from the well.

SINGLE SET PACKER
Product No. 0611/2/3/5/6-000000-DA

The Inflatable Single Set Production-Injection Packer is used for isolating zones in open-
hole or in casing. The tool is retrievable and may be used for testing, treating, production, or
injection. The Single Set (either rotational release or pull release) production injection packer
may be used in vertical or deviated wells.
Inflatable packer elements for this tool are 1.67 m. (66 Inches) in length. High strength aircraft
cable is used to provide good expansion characteristics in washed out or irregular well bores, as
well as to provide high differential pressure capabilities. Cable reinforcement allows these
inflatable packer elements to return very close to the original run-in diameter. In addition, these
elements are less likely to lose rubber down hole because superior bonding occurs between the
rubber and cable.
FEATURES
‰ Inflatable Packer Elements provide greater clearance through restrictions in a well
‰ Tool requires no rotation for setting the packer (or releasing for shear style tool)
‰ The system does not depend on a poppet valve to maintain pressure in the packer element.
A sliding sleeve is mechanically shifted to maintain inflation pressure in the packer.
‰ A cable-reinforced packer element provides superior bonding of rubber to cable, and
therefore less rubber is likely to be lost downhole
‰ The system allows pressure to be fully equalized across the packer element prior to
unsetting the packer. This minimizes packer element damage
APPLICATIONS
‰ Injection
‰ Testing
‰ Treating
‰ Squeeze Cementing
‰ Bridge Plug
‰ Pressure Testing Casing Patches
OPERATING SEQUENCE
Prior to running the Single Set Packer into the well, a decision must be made whether to run a
solid pumpout sub, ball shear assembly, or a bull plug, at the bottom of the tool, along with a
rotational or pull release mechanism. A solid pumpout sub will not allow tubing to fill as the
tool is run into the well. A ball shear assembly allows the tubing to fill as the tool is run into the
well. As well, fluids may be circulated down the tubing before dropping the ball from surface.
Shear Pins are used in both the solid pumpout sub and ball shear assemblies and these may be
set at a pre-determined value based on accessory tools used, and downhole operating conditions.
A pumpout sub is normally used in highly deviated or horizontal wells. A Bull Plug is typically
used for bridge plug applications.
For unsetting a Rotational Release Single Set Packer, a slight upward pull is applied to the tool
followed with right hand rotation to the tubing string. Six rotations are required at the tool for
release from the housing and opening bypass ports for packer element deflation.
For unsetting a Pull Release Single Set Packer, an over pull to the tool is required to shear the
screws. Once sheared from the housing bypass ports are exposed and the packer element
deflates.

Production Injection Packers

BIG BORE SINGLE SET PACKER
Product No. 0627/8-000000-DA

The Inflatable Single Set Production Injection Packer is used for isolating zones in open-
hole or in casing. The tool is retrievable and may be used for testing, treating, production, or
injection. The tool may also be used as a retrievable bridge plug. For horizontal wells, two
tools may be spaced with blank tubing to provide a scab liner system. Production may then take
place from above and/or below the scab liner system.
Big Bore Packers provide a larger inner diameter for high volume production or treating
operations. The Single Set Production Injection Packer may be used in vertical, deviated, or
horizontal wells. The Pull Release version requires no rotation to set the packer, or to unset the
packer.
Inflatable packer elements for this tool provide a 4 foot (1.22 m.) seal length. High strength
stainless steel strips are used to provide good expansion characteristics in washed out or
irregular well bores, as well as to provide high differential pressure capabilities across the
packer element.

Production Injection Packers

MULTI-SET PACKER
Product No. 0617-000000-DA

The Inflatable Multi-Set Production-Injection Packer is used for isolating zones in open-hole
or in casing. The tool is re-settable and may be used for testing, treating, production, or
injection of several zones with each trip into the well. This tool is designed for long-term
downhole production or injection applications.
The Inflatable Multi-Set Production-Injection Packer may be used in vertical, deviated, or
horizontal wells. No rotation is required to set the packer; however right-hand rotation is
required to unset the packer.
There are several options available for re-setting multi-set packers. These include:
1. Re-set darts with a perforated plug catcher (when pumping or testing must take place
through the tool)
2. Expendable ball
3. Standing valve
4. Wireline plug
5. Solid pumpout plug or bull plug (when no pumping or testing through the packer is
required)
Inflatable packer elements for these tools are 66 inches (1.67 m) in length with a 4 foot (1.22 m)
seal length. High strength aircraft cable is used to provide good expansion characteristics in
washed out or irregular well bores. Cable reinforcement allows these inflatable packer elements
to return very close to the original run-in diameter while providing high differential pressure
capabilities. The packer elements are designed in such a way that bulging due to high
differential pressure is less likely to occur. Due to superior bonding between the cable and
rubber, these elements lose less rubber down hole when compared with competitors products.
In addition, optional exposed cable packer elements are available to provide superior anchoring
in casing.

Production Injection Packers

THRU-TUBING PACKER
Product No. 0650-000000-DA

The Thru-Tubing Inflatable Packer (TTIP) is used for isolating zones in open-hole or in
casing. TTIP’s are normally run through a tubing string and set in larger open-hole or casing
located below the tubing string. The Thru-Tubing Inflatable Packer may be used in vertical,
deviated, or horizontal wells.
In many applications, thru-tubing packer elements are required to expand up to three times the
original run-in diameter, maintain high differential pressure across the packer element, and then
return to its original run-in diameter. High strength Stainless Steel strips are used to provide
excellent expansion characteristics for setting this packer in larger diameter casing or open-hole
located below the tubing string.
A variety of chemical resistant elastomer compounds are available suitable for temperature up
to 350°F (180°C). The thru-tubing inflatable packer elements are typically supplied with a
standard elastomer compound which is suitable for temperatures up to 240°F (115°C); high
temperature compounds are available upon customer request. Long, 48” (1.22m), elastomer
seal lengths provide excellent anchoring capabilities while still maintaining a positive seal in
open-hole or cased hole application. The smaller O.D. Thru-Tubing Inflatable Packers are
equipped with shorter 18” (457mm) elements.
The Thru-Tubing Inflatable Packers are equipped with an opening valve, preventing fluid from
prematurely inflating the element before reaching the correct setting depth. As pressure
increases beyond the opening pressure and inflating the element, a closing valve shears to
permanently lock the inflation fluid in the packer.
If the coiled tubing is disconnected from the Thru-Tubing Inflatable Packer via a hydraulic or
shear style disconnect, an equalizing valve shifts to a closed position. This allows for proper
pressure balance above and below the packer upon deflating and retrieving the tool.
APPLICATIONS
 Permanent Bridge Plug
o Permanent installation to block unwanted production from lower zones in a well
 Cement Retainer
o Designed for squeeze cementing
o Double flapper valve prevents back-flow of cement after squeezing
 Multi-Set Packer
o Typically used for acidizing, testing or treating zones below the packer, e.g. pressure
testing the annulus above the packer after a casing patch has been set
o No balls or darts are necessary to inflate the packer
 Retrievable Packer
o Typically used for testing, treating, production, injection or as a retrievable bridge plug
o Expendable ball and seat allows fluid to be pumped through the packer

‰ Injection

The Inflatable Multi-Set Production Injection Packer is used for isolating zones in open-hole or
in casing. This tool is designed for long-term downhole production or injection applications.
The Inflatable Multi-Set Production-Injection Packer may be used in vertical, deviated, or
horizontal wells. No rotation is required to set the packer or release the packer.
Due to superior bonding between the cable and
rubber these elements lose less rubber down hole when compared with competitors products. In
addition, optional exposed cable packer elements are available to provide superior anchoring in
casing.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS

OPERATIONAL SEQUENCES
As the RITTS tool is being run into the hole the tool auto-fills due to the large unrestricted bore
through the tool which also permits circulation through the tool. Run in position ensures that
the packer element remains equalized preventing premature inflation of the packer element.
During the inflation sequence a reset dart or ball is launched from surface and pumped onto the
seat. Fluid is then blocked to the annulus and through the packer I.D. Fluid is then diverted
through concentric passages to the inflation channels of the packer element. It is then
permissible to increase pressure allowing the packer element to fully inflate.
During the inflation pressure lock-in sequence weight is slacked off, onto the tool thereby
trapping the pressure in the elements and blocking the ports from the I.D. of the tool to the
annulus. Tubing pressure is increased to the pre-determined pressure to shear the ball seat or the
reset dart allowing fluid to flow through the large unrestricted bore of the tool to below the
packer.

RE-SETTABLE INFLATE TEST & TREAT SYSTEM
Product No. 0855-000000-DA

Once testing or treating has been finished weight is picked up off the string to begin the
deflation sequence. The packer element inflation channels and annulus ports are opened
allowing the packer to equalize and deflate close to its original run-in diameter. The tool is now
returned to its original run-in position ready to be moved to another interval. Additional darts
may be pumped from surface providing virtually unlimited setting in one trip into the well.

HYDRAULIC DISCONNECT
Product No. 500x-000000-DA

The Hydraulic Disconnect Assembly allows the tubing string to be disconnected from
permanent or retrievable tools, which must be left in the well. These tools are typically used in
highly deviated or horizontal wells where tubing rotation is very difficult. In addition, these
tools are used for coiled tubing operations. Hydraulic pressure is applied to disconnect. No
tubing rotation is required to operate the tool.
The Hydraulic Disconnect Assembly consists of two primary components. The lower portion
of the tool is a lug nipple, threaded directly onto the packer assembly. This nipple is
disconnected from the running tool and remains down hole attached to the packer. The upper
portion of the running tool is the release coupling. This coupling remains latched to the lug
nipple until pressure is applied to disconnect the tubing string from the packer. When internal
string pressure reaches a pre-determined value, based on the number of shear screws used,
screws in the running tool are sheared. This causes the Shear Valve to shift, and the tubing
string is disconnected at that point.
A Hydraulic Overshot retrieval tool assembly is threaded to the bottom of the tubing string,
and run downhole to the Lug Nipple remaining from the disconnection operation. As the
overshot is lowered to the Lug Nipple, it is good practice to circulate fluid down the tubing in
order to remove debris and settled particles located directly above the Lug Nipple. The
Overshot retrieval tool contains an automatic jay locking mechanism with a seal stack. This
allows for easy connection back onto the tubing string with sealing capabilities if required.

MECHANICAL DISCONNECT
Product No. 5020-000000-DA

The Mechanical Disconnect Assembly allows the tubing string to be disconnected from
permanent or retrievable tools, which must be left in the well. The Mechanical Disconnect
Assembly consists of two primary components. The lower portion of the tool is a lug nipple,
threaded directly onto the packer assembly. This nipple is disconnected from the running tool
and remains down hole attached to the packer. The upper portion of the running tool is the
release coupling. The coupling remains latched to the lug nipple until weight and rotation is
applied to disconnect the tubing string from the packer.
OPERATING PROCEDURE
Disconnect Procedure
To disconnect the Lug Nipple from the Disconnect Coupling, apply some tubing weight of 250
to 500 DaN (500 to 1,000 pounds) to the tool. This will allow a slight shift of the lug nipple
inside the release coupling. Apply a quarter turn left-hand rotation to the tubing at the tool.
Continue to apply a left-hand torque as you pull upward on the tubing string. Once separation
has taken place, the tubing string may be pulled freely upward, and retrieved from the well, if
necessary.
Retrieval Procedure
To latch on to the Lug Nipple, run in with the release coupling you initially disconnected with
from the tubing string. As the overshot is lowered to the Lug Nipple, it is good practice to
circulate fluid down the tubing in order to remove debris and settled particles located directly
above the Lug Nipple.
Continue to lower the retrieval overshot until a weight decrease of 500 to 1,000 DaN (1,000 to
2,000 pounds) occurs. This will be an indication that the retrieval overshot has latched on to the
Lug Nipple. A quarter turn right-hand tubing string rotation at the tool is required at this point.
Simply apply a slight upward pull with right-hand rotation to confirm the retrieval overshot is
latched. A weight increase will be evident at this point. Proceed with the specified procedure
required to unset the tool located directly below the Lug Nipple.

HEAVY DUTY MECHANICAL DISCONNECT
Product No. 5021-000000-DA

The Heavy Duty Mechanical Disconnect assembly allows the tubing string to be disconnected
from permanent or retrievable tools, which must be left in the well.
This Heavy Duty Mechanical Disconnect assembly utilizes an internal locking system to
achieve extremely high pulling forces, without relying on any welds. This coupled with 3-1/2”
or 4-1/2” thread connections results in excess of 200,000 lbs [89,000 daN] force.

TYPE ‘CR’ CEMENT RETAINER
Product No. 5207-000000-DA

The World Oil Tools Type ‘CR’ Cement Retainer provides a positive and reliable method of
controlling a cement squeeze operation and of keeping the hydrostatic pressure off of the zone
while the squeeze cures. The materials used in the manufacture of the Type ‘CR’ Retainer
provide fast drillability without sacrificing performance. The retainer features full 360-degree
metal backup rings to reliably contain and protect the element under high differential pressures.
The full circle one-piece slips insure trouble free wireline running and reliable holding in all
grades of casing.
The Type ‘CR’ Retainer features a reliable pressure balanced valve system. The valve is
operated with tubing movement from surface. The tubing is simply picked up to close the valve
and set down to open the valve. The valve design allows the tubing to be tested prior to starting
to squeeze. To do this it is necessary to pick the tubing up enough to close the valve but not to
permit it to snap out of the bore of the retainer.
The Type ‘CR’ Retainer may be run on wireline using an ‘E-4’ Setting Tool or equivalent.
After wireline setting the Snap-Latch seal unit of J-Latch Seal Unit is run in on tubing to operate
the retainer. The snap-latch seal unit seals in the cement retainer bore and utilizes a collet
system to give a positive indication of at what point the valve is closed or open. The collet
requires 5,000 to 10,000 lbs. (2,200 to 4,500 daN) force to snap out of the retainer bore. The
exact amount of force will depend on the size of the retainer and the number of times the collet
is engaged and disengaged.
The retainer may also be run and set on tubing using the Mechanical Setting Tool. The
Mechanical Setting Tool functions as a Snap-Latch Seal unit after the retainer has been set.

TYPE ‘CR’ MECHANICAL SETTING TOOL
Product No. 5208-000000-DA

The World Oil Tools Type ‘CR’ Setting Tool is used to run, set and operate a Type ‘CR’
Cement Retainer (with mechanical slips) using tubing or drill pipe.
Setting Procedure
The retainer and Mechanical Setting Tool are run to depth using tubing or drill pipe. At depth
the top slips of the retainer are set with right hand rotation. Setting is then completed with
tubing tension. At this point the tubing may be pressure tested. Right hand rotation is used to
disengage the setting tool from the retainer. Once disengaged the Mechanical Setting Tool
operates as a Snap Latch Seal Assembly to operate the valve system in the retainer. Refer to the
technical manual section for the Type ‘CR’ Mechanical Setting Tool for detailed instructions.

FULL-BORE ANNULUS OPERATED DST TOOLS

Full-Bore Drillstem Testing Tools are used for testing formations after casing has been set in a
well. These tools may be used for testing in vertical or deviated wells. Although the tools are
designed primarily for offshore operations, drillstem testing may also be performed on land
operations where wells are deep and highly deviated.
The Full-Bore configuration allows perforating through the system. High production flow rates
may be achieved.
Pressure-Volume Balanced Slip Joints provide free travel in the test string for offshore floating
platforms. Drill collars used below the slip joints ensure sufficient weight is placed on the
packer.
A Hookwall Casing Packer is used to isolate zones and to anchor against the casing. The packer
is operated by applying an upward pull, rotating a half turn to the right at the tool, and setting
down. A strainght upward pull releases the packer. An integral bypass allows fluid to equalize
across the packer after testing is completed.
A Multi-Cycle Circulating Valve allows spotting of fluids to the packer, as well as reverse
circulating after drillstem testing. This valve is operated by cycling pressure down the tubing
and the annulus in order to open or close the circulating ports.
The Annulus Pressure Operated Shut-In Tool allows multiple flow periods and shut-in periods.
Pressure is applied in the annulus to open the valve for flow periods, and pressure is released
from the annulus to close the valve for shut-in periods. Excessive pressure applied to the
annulus causes the valve to lock closed, as a safety measure.
PRODUCT FEATURES
 System allows testing of formations after casing has been run into a well. Concerns about
open-hole formations are eliminated.
 System may be used for land or offshore operations.
 System may be used in vertical or highly deviated wells.
 System is very economical to operate.
 Multiple flow periods and shut-in periods may be obtained with each zone tested.
 Full-Bore configuration allows perforating through the system and high flow rate
production.

ANNULUS PRESSURE OPERATED TESTER VALVE
Product No. 0710-150101-DA

The Annulus Pressure Operated Tester Valve is a full-opening, annulus pressure-operated valve.
It permits measuring multiple closed-in pressures in cased holes where pipe manipulation is
restricted and a full-opening string is required.
The nitrogen chamber is charged at the surface to a selected pressure determined by surface
temperature and bottomhole temperature and pressure.
If the intended test requires a permanent packer that uses a stinger mandrel or seal nipple, a
variety of World Oil Tools Inc. bypass tools are available, depending on field application, to
help ensure that the formations and downhole equipment are protected from excessive pressure
buildup.

5-IN FULL BORE SHUT-IN TOOL
Product No. 0710-057801-DA

The Full Bore Shut-In Tool Assembly is a downhole master valve, which keeps the drillstring or
tubing dry while running drillstem testing tools in the hole. A Hydraulic system in the tool
allows the valve to open slowly with applied drillstring or tubing weight, after the packer has
been set. The time delay mechanism prevents premature opening if bridges or tight sections are
suddenly encountered while running drillstem testing tools into the well. In addition, the Full
Bore Shut-In Tool is used to obtain flow periods and shut-in periods for drillstem testing. Any
number of flow periods or shut-in periods may be obtained with each trip in the hole.
An optional Indexing J-Slot Mechanism is available to allow the tool to remain in the locked
open position, while running the tools into the well.

DST Equipment
TD HYDRAULIC JAR
Product No. 0710-151000-DA

The TD Hydraulic Jar provides a temporary resistance that allows the work string to be
stretched when pulling to free stuck tools. When the resistance is released, the pipe contracts
providing the energy required to deliver the impact blow. This temporary resistance is provided
by a metered hydraulic section or c-spring in the tool. The resistance is released whenever the
metering section bypasses or there is enough pull to overcome the c-spring, allowing the
mandrel to move up rapidly providing a downhole impact. The jar is reset whenever pipe
weight is applied.
The TD Hydraulic Jar is included as part of a toolstring to help remove stuck tools. The jar
helps free a stuck tool by resisting a pull on the workstring. When the workstring is stretched
by the pull, tension in the jar is released and an upward impart is delivered to the stuck tool.

CASING PACKER
Product No. 0701-048301-DA

The Casing Packer is a full-opening, hookwall-type packer designed for use in testing, treating,
and squeeze-cementing operations. The full-opening feature permits large volumes of fluid to
be pumped with a minimal pressure drop and allows the passage of a through-tubing perforation
gun. These features help make the tool useful for multiple operations, such as perforating,
testing, treating, squeezing, and re-perforating, with one trip in the hole. Generally, it is
necessary to run the Casing Packer with a Casing Circulating Valve assembly.
The packer body includes a J-slot mechanism, mechanical, mechanical slips, packing element,
and hydraulic slips. Large, heavy-duty slips used in the hydraulic hold-down mechanism help
prevent the tool from being pumped up the hole. All packer bodies are assembled with
automatic J-slot sleeves.
The Casing Circulating Valve is a locked-open/locked-closed valve that serves as both a
circulating valve and a bypass. This valve was designed for use with the Casing Packer. The
Casing Circulating Valve is automatically locked in the closed position when the packer is set.
During testing and squeezing operations, the lock helps prevent the valve from being pumped
open. A straight J-slot is provided in the locked-open position so that it can be used with the
straight J-slot in the packer body. This combination eliminates the need to turn the tubing to
close the circulating valve or to reset the packer after the tubing has been displaced with cement.

DST SAFETY JOINT
Product No. 0701-0X8800-TM

The Safety Joint Assembly is a compact left-hand release, which allows a minimum number of
tools to be left in the hole, if it becomes necessary to unlatch the Safety Joint.
The male and female parts of the Safety Joint are locked together by a Ratchet Ring. The Safety
Joint is released with left hand rotation, which requires only 20% of the torque required to break
other tool joints in the string. This feature makes it very difficult to back off unintentionally,
during normal drillstem testing operations.
These are available in 3.12in (79mm), 4.25in (108mm), and 5.00in (127mm) O.D. sizes.

5-IN RECORDER BUNDLE CARRIER
Product No. 0701-0556XX-DA

The Inside Recorder Carrier Assembly is designed to carry pressure recorders to record
subsurface pressure inside the drill pipe.

The Outside Recorder Carrier Assembly is designed to carry pressure and temperature
recorders, which record the subsurface data outside the flow passage, in the test interval. This
carrier is always run directly below the Upper Inflate Packer Assembly.

PUMPOUT SUB
Product No. 0701-0X7600-DA

The Pumout Sub assembly allows produced formation fluids to be circulated out of the
drillstring or tubing, upon completion of a drillstem test. The hazards of pulling a “wet string”
containing oil or fluids with Hydrogen Sulfide are therefore eliminated.
SPECIFICATIONS
It is good practice to install the Pumpout Sub assembly in the drillstring or tubing, about one or
two stands above the Drillstem Testing Tools. Any problems associated with settlement of solid
particles in produced formation fluids will be minimized.
One method of obtaining circulation through the Pumpout Sub assembly, is by using Impact
Plugs which are sheared by releasing a bar from surface. An optional method is to use Rupture
Discs which burst when internal pressure of about 5.50 MPa (800 psi), above hydrostatic
pressure, is applied in the drillstring or tubing. Each Pumpout Sub assembly is designed with
two external threaded ports that will either accept two Impact Plugs or two Rupture Discs, or a
combination of one Impact Plug and one Rupture Disc.
The Pumpout Sub assembly is designed to adapt directly to the drillstring or tubing, and is
available with various tool joint connections. These connections must be specified when
ordering.

5-IN OVER PRESSURE KILL VALVE
Product No. 0710-050201-DA

The single-shot hydrostatic overpressure reversing valve may be opened by applying annulus
pressure or tubing pressure. An additional rupture disc in the lower adapter allows
communication from the tubing to an atmospheric chamber behind an upper rupture disc. The
internal pressure rating must be higher than the highest expected tubing pressure at the tool.

PERFORATED ANCHOR
Product No. 0701-03X2700-DA

A Perforated Anchor is used to provide the proper spacing requirements for the test interval,
when a zone is isolated for well testing. In addition, the perforated anchor provides flow ports to
allow formation fluids to enter the testing tools. These ports screen out very coarse particles to
prevent plugging of the tools.
