Project

This is an evaluation of an early childhood setting (preschool – ages 3 or 4 in a typically

developing classroom, or early elementary – kindergarten through 2nd grade in a
typically developing classroom). The project requires you to do objective observations,
interviews and use specific examples of behaviors. For each area listed you are to
gather information (documentation/examples – equipment might be a listing of the
equipment found in the classroom, room arrangement might be a description or pictures
of the classroom, philosophy would be a statement from both the center/school and
teacher, etc.). Evaluation of each section will be written from this information. (Be sure
to include enough information so that the instructor can have a complete picture of the
classroom.)
*Evaluations MUST include references to SPECIFIC ideas/theories learned in class or
through text. DAP (Developmentally appropriate practice by NAEYC) MUST be referred
to in the written evaluation (include page and short quote). Use at least 3 references

*E. EVALUATION (15 points)
I think that the teacher does a really good job in her teaching method she uses several
different teaching methods even though she leans toward one the most but also like to
use the hands on alot according to the dap book on page 154 “ teacher use number of
formats to teach and’ also “ to engage children actively in a variety of learning
experiences...” also she involves the children in to her lesson plan according to their
needs and as i saw she answers the question asked by the child at whatever time they
ask not minding if she is doing something or not. According to the dap book in page 155
it say “teacher frequently engage children in planning or reelecting on their experiences.
Although i notice she does not ask many open ended question to see what they know.
Section 3. Guidance (3 specific objective observations for each)
Documentation/Examples (15 points)
A. Routines (specific objective observations of routines being carried out)
1. After nap time is snack time and child knows they must head to the

songs after maybe five minutes each child start to join and then sit down on the carpet

with children during regular activities/lessons)

handed him the piece the correct way and told him to try it that way .

utilizing guidance)
1.teacher let each child chose an outside activity although it was cold each
child was playing however one child took their shoes off and she told him to put them
back on or he would have to go back in the classroom with her that gave him to options
.
2. two children were playing with a puzzle and after they completed it they
where bouncing all over and than decided to walk on the puzzle the teacher did not say
no do not do that but asked them if puzzle were to walk on or to play with and then both
just started to take it apart and put it back in its place.

*E. EVALUATION (15 points)

She had control of her classroom even though she had assistants when she did activies
by herself she was clam and patient though she had some wondering children and had
to do some seating arrangements and put the most distracted children next to her. In
the dap book it states pg 158“ teacher model and encourage calm, patient behavior and
facilitate children’s development of self regulation by supporting them in thinking ahead
and planning actives” pg159 “ teacher sets limits regarding unacceptable behaviors and
enforce these limits “ she took action right away and ask children to think if they where
doing the correct thind when they where walking on top of the puzzle.
