2.0 General
2.1 Description

The Ulyser is a battery-powered receiver for ultrasonic signals with a frequency of 5 to

50 kHz. Protocol files of ULD’s can be read out and analysed. The Ulyser receives ultra-
sonic signals via an integrated microphone. The received signals are optically reflected by a
blinking symbol and acoustically via an integrated loudspeaker. The Ulyser is a sensitive
instrument. Therefore, it is to be protected from moisture and destruction.

Note: The Ulyser cuts off automatically 2 minute after the last operation, data of the last
readout remain recorded on the Ulyser.

4.0 Test-/ Analyse procedure

4.1 General

The water switch pins of the ULD are to be cleaned whenever the ULD is going to be tested.
Clean the water switch pins with a soft cloth and a mild detergent, and dry them carefully with
a clean cloth.

Note: Surrounding sounds can affect the measurement by causing an acoustic signal.
On-/Off-button
4.2 Functional test and readout ULD

• Turn the Ulyser on by using the On-/Off-button.

• Insert the activation cord in the USB slot.

• Tap on the measurement-button to start

the functional test.

• Connect both jacks with the correct poles of the ULD

(see figure 13). After 3 seconds an acoustic signal
confirms successful completion and the data
measured is read out.
Figure 13: Configuration

• The acoustic signal is checked by means

of the Ulyser (see figure 16). Activation cord

Note: The Ulyser is held in the direction of the ULD to prevent loss of the acoustic signal
(see figure 16).
The functional test is only completed when the “signal OK” tick appears in the checkbox (see
figure 10).

5.0 Maintenance
This paragraph contains instructions for the battery replacement of the Ulyser and its
cleaning.

5.1 General

The Ulyser contains a button cell lithium battery Type CR2032 (Novega Order – No.:
20456-00) and may be considered as hazardous waste.

Warning: Fire, explosion and severe burn hazard. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above
75°C (167°F), incinerate or expose contents to water!

Note: The battery should generally be stored in a cool, dry place! On no account try to
recharge the battery. Use of an unauthorized battery will void the license and the warranty
and may cause an inoperative or dangerous condition. Use of an unauthorized battery may
cause a risk of fire or explosion. Once this installation period has expired, the battery should
be disposed of in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations (2013/56/EC). The
battery replacement should be done in a maintenance room and under clean conditions, to
avoid impurities in the interior of the Ulyser by dust, dirt or humidity.

Note: Replacement of the battery must be done by

a qualified technician.

5.2 Battery replacement

Note: As soon as the Ulyser has a low battery level,

the adjoining screen will be displayed.

For battery replacement open the battery cover. An ESD

grounding wristlet must be worn to protect the electronic. The Figure 22: Low battery
button cell is to be pushed out of the fitting and removed.

Caution!

While replacing the battery, attend to the correct polarity! (Plus pole above)

Warning: Incorrect installation of the battery might cause a damage to the Ulyser electronics.

5.3 Cleaning

Clean the Ulyser with a soft, anti-static and dry cloth.
