Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement:
- This lesson keeps the students engaged because the students will be taking notes of the
PowerPoints that we go over about; Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Cady
Stanton, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman. They will then all get an iPad and log into the
Kahoot! assessment that I have planned for the students as a formative assessment for the
students in the classroom about the content that we went over.
Representation:
- For this lesson I have allowed the students to work one-on-one with the student response tool,
Kahoot! and the iPads in the classroom. This lesson was created so that I could see the
information that the students retained from the content that was given to them about Susan B.
Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman.
This is a more interactive way for the students to show me the information that was just taught
to them.
Action and Expression:
- This lesson allows the students to use technology in the classroom and student response tools
to show me what they know about the content of the standard.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
- Prior to this student response tool activity, throughout the week I will provide and present the
students with PowerPoints, books, and information on Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass,
Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman. The students will take notes on
the important information that will be on the summative unit test at the end of the unit. The
SRT activity that I have created will include questions that will also be on the unit test and will
give the students another differentiated way to practice with this content. I will introduce this
activity by telling the students that this activity will give the students extra practice with this
content that will help them later with the summative test that they will be taking on the
standard.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic): ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

- During this activity students will be using iPads to answer multiple choice questions on Kahoot! The
students were given 60 seconds to answer each of these questions so that they will be able to take
the time to really understand the question that is being asked and read the answers to the questions.
During this the teacher will be reading the questions to the students, along with the different answer
choices they have. I plan on this activity will take around 10-15 minutes.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
- I will have the correct answers selected so that when the students are done answering, it will show
them the correct answer but not who go the answer right or wrong.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
- After the SRT activity I will make sure that the students have a good understanding on the content
that is found in the standard. The students will then take a summative assessment on the content
that was learned during the unit.
How will the data be used?
- The data that will be collected during this assessment will be the number of students that got
questions correct, and which questions the students did the best and the worst at. This data will
be used to show me fi the students are ready for the unit test, and the content that I may or may
not need to reteach before the unit test. The information will not be collected as a grade but
will allow me to see if the students are ready for the assessment that is taken as a grade.

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
- The goal for this activity is to see the content that the students have mastered and the content
that may need to be retaught to the students before they take the summative assessment. This
is different from what I have done in the past because I would like to see if this data that is
provided to me will help me understand if the students are ready for the assessment or not.
Reflective Practice:
- I feel like this activity really maximizes student learning because it really shows me if the
students are retaining the content that they are being taught. To further extend this lesson I can
use another student response tool that have the students enter their answer as an activity that
makes the students go back and look at their notes from the unit.
