Planets activity

5/10mins Pick 5-10 students to stand up and arrange desks to make a large space in
the centre of the classroom.
Gradually pick 10 students (half the class) to come to the whiteboard and
delegate a planet sign to each (include The Sun and Pluto), the student will
then say their planet to the class and stand up facing the class holding their
sign. Arrange students so that they are in order from The Sun to Pluto, then
select other 10 students to come up one at a time to collect a sphere
representing each planet. Instruct students holding signs to move into the

middle of the classroom where they will rotate the sun in order of proximity.
Swap the class so that the student holding spheres now have an opportunity
to rotate the sun.
After the class has all had an opportunity to move around the sun as a planet,
ask them to return their spheres and signs to the teacher, rearrange the desks
and place a chair at their desk.

I wonder writing activity

As the student have taken their seats at a desk, hand out an ‘I wonder’
worksheet and explain that they’re required to draw a picture within the ‘I
wonder cloud’ and then write a few sentences about what their picture shows.

the class, allow them to e

Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)

working well present their drawing and explain their curiosity about space.
