FOR DESIGN OF FOOTINGS

Maximum effective soil pressure pe max 6.65
2
( Pu/Area+ Muz/Zz + Mux/Zx) - Psoil - Pconc = 4.96 T/m
Design of footing is done using above maximum effective soil pressure
F.O.S against overturning = 5.77 x 2 / 2
= 3.77

= 1.53 > 1.5 SAFE

F.O.S against sliding = 5.77 x 0.6

1.835
= 1.89 > 1.5 SAFE

Maximum overhang = 2.00 - 0.45

2.00
= 0.775 m

2
Maximum bending moment = 4.96 x 0.775 = 1.49 tm
2
Factored maximum moment = 1.50 x 1.5
= 2.22 tm
Effective depth d = 120 mm

Mu/bd2 = 21784794 = 1.51 N/mm2

Ast required = 449.48 mm

Assume diameter of bars as = 10 mm

centre to centre spacing = 150 mm OK
2
Ast provided = 523.5 mm
Hence provide 10 mm @ 150 mm c/c at Bottom
10 mm @ 250 mm c/c at Top
Check for shear:-
one way shear
Maximum shear at a distance "d" from the face of the column

Overhang from the face of the column = 0.775 - 0.12

= 0.655 m
Shear force = 4.96 x 0.655
= 3.25 t

Factored Shear force Vu = 3.25 x 1.50 = 4.875 t

Maximum shear stress Tv = 48753 = 0.41 N/mm2

1000 x 120
For pt '= 0.44
b factor = 6.65
Permissible shear stress = t c = 0.46 N/mm2 SAFE

Two way shear

Critrical section at d/2 from face of pedestal = 60 mm
Perimeter for fractured pyramid = 2 * (B1+d+L1+d) = 4920 mm
Area of fractured pyramid = (B1+d) * (L1+d) = 1.1457 m2

Punching shear = V = (A-Pyramid Area) * P Max = ( 2.80 - 1.15 ) x 4.96

= 8.209 Ton
Eff depth at critical section = 120 mm

Shear stress = Vu / (Perimeter * Min Depth) = 0.21 N/MM2

Allowable shear stress = 0.25 * SQRT(Fck) = 1.25 N/MM2 HENCE SAFE

Design of Pedestal
Pedestal size = 0.45 x 0.45 m
Vertical load on each pedestal = 1.478 t

self weight of pedestal = 0.45 x 0.45 x 1.25 x 2.5

= 0.63 t

Total vertical load = 1.478 + 0.63 = 2.11 t

shear at plinth level = 0.50 t

Moment at the base of the pedestal = 0.50 x( 1.25 - 0.2 )

2.00
Factored Total vertical load = 2.11 x 1.5 = 3.17 T
Factored Moment at the base of the pedestal =( 3.17 + 0.53 ) x 1.5 = 5.54 Tm

COMPRESSION WITH BENDING Pu/fck b d = 0.0063 Mu/fck b d2 = 0.0000

lef = 1.1 x 2 = 2.10 m

lef / D = 4.67 < 12 Short Column

Total Moment = 5.54 + 0.00 = 5.54 Tm

Since Load is is very less only minimum reinforcement as per cl. 26.5.3(b) of IS 456 will be required.

Concrete area required to resist direct vertical load= 3.17 x 10000

0.36 x 25.00

Minimum Ast required = 0.8 % of the concrete area required to resist direct vertical load

Provide longitudinal reinforcement of 8 nos 12 dia

Ast Provided = 904.32 mm2

Spacing between reinforcement = 185.00 < 300 OK
Design for lateral ties :
Spacing of lateral ties shall be least of the following :-

I) Least lateral dimn of column = 450.00 mm

ii) 16 x dia of longitudinal reinf = 16.00 x 12 = 192.00 mm
iii) 48 x dia of transverse reinforcement= 48.00 x 8 = 384.00 mm
