GMS 2018-19 BUILDING GOALS: Highlight the building goal(s) this plan addresses.
Goal 1: By May 2019, 95% of students at GMS will meet their typical growth or score proficient on the
NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) reading test.
Goal 2: By May 2019, 95% of students at GMS will meet their typical growth or score proficient on the
NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) mathematics test.
Goal 3: By May 2019, 95% of students at GMS will meet their typical growth or score proficient on the
NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) science test.
Goal 4: Throughout the 2018-2019 school year, the Grinnell Middle School staff will engage families and
community partners to support student intellectual, social and emotional learning.
ACTION PLAN:
RATIONALE FOR THE PLAN:
1. What student learning concerns will this plan address? This plan addresses student learning in the
area of reading comprehension in the target language (Spanish) with crossover skills into other
content areas. (English/Social Studies)
2. What specific strategies and activities will help to accomplish your goal? Will make a concerted effort
at the eighth grade level to implement the above mention reading strategies.
3. What artifacts will be available for you to use as evidence that your plan is working? Quizzes, unit
exams, teacher created reading and writing assignments, and on going class assessments.

I appreciate you taking Disciplinary Literacy seriously to the point where you would implement it into
your IPDP. I believe you will learn from our training this year and I look forward to having
