Asalam-o-Alakum Karam, so nice to see you settled back into preschool after summer holiday. During these last few weeks I have noticed you still have great interest in construction and loves playing with tools. Today when I put the tool set out on the table you quickly came and put the safety glasses on your face making sure they fitted well. Then you gathered the set of tools and tucked it under your arm. When you heard me saying “oh this table is broken?” You came and put your tool on the ground. I heard you asked, “where’ “I responded and said, “Here the top side of the table.” And lift the top of the table to show. You came with a hammer and bang on the table, in the meantime teacher Mohamed came and told us that he will bring his tools to fix the table. I mentioned how interested you are to help. He said, “it is good to know that Karam will help me to fix the table.” You showed your enthusiasm and got a hammer in your hand in action. Teacher Mohammed told you that he will drill the screw to fix the table to its legs. You watched him until he fixed the table. When I mentioned how the hanger rack is broken and needed fixing, you quickly pointed to the rack and gathered chainsaw, hammer, screwdriver and ranger in your arm and followed Teacher Mohammed. When he looked under the bench, he said, “Look Karam it is broken you looked it carefully and had thinking face. When Teacher Mohammed fixed it and asked you to look after it. You nodded your head with big smile and wave good bye to him. What is happening? Observation shows Karam you still have a great interest in construction and tools and have great understanding of knowing that broken things needs fixing. This was shown by your actions of bringing your tools to the broken table. How can we extend this learning? Karam, this term your learning pathway is to express your creativity; we will facilitate you with the environments where you can learn more about constructions and foster you understanding of the tools. We will also provide carpentry table with tools and wood so you could be more creative and expressive in your play. This will also give you the confidence to build positive attitude towards learnings as it is one of our centre’s priority. Parent’s contribution:
