• Mandatory Periodic Audit by Accredited Energy
Auditors
• Mandatory Reporting to BEE in Specified Format.

(2) Domestic Appliances


• Domestic Appliances will be supplied with Energy
Consumption Specification by April - 2004

(3) Housing Specifications


• Building Codes will be defined for Energy
Consumption like Lighting, AC etc. by April - 2004

Training
• A Familiarization Workshop, conducted by
BEE
• A Preparatory Training Program for Energy
Auditors Examination along with Model
Tests, a Five Day Program by The National
Productivity Council (NPC), Chennai.
Examinations
• Across the Country on 15th & 16th April –
2004.
1. General Aspects of Energy Mgmt. & Audit (150 Marks)
2. Energy Efficiency in Thermal Utilities (150 Marks)
3. Energy Efficiency in Electrical Utilities (150 Marks)
4. Energy Performance Assessment for Equipment & Utility
Systems (Open Book Exam, 100 marks)
5. Viva Examinations (50 Marks)
• Minimum 50 % Marks to be obtained in
each Paper.
Certification & Appointment
• The National Productivity Council (NPC), Chennai
is authorized by BEE to conduct Examinations &
Certify Energy Managers / Auditors.

• First Examination will be conducted by NPC only, in


future BEE may appoint other agencies also.

• After Passing the Examinations, BEE will Certify the


candidate as an ‘Energy Manager / Auditor’

• Only BEE Certified Energy Managers can be


appointed, (no other agencies are recognized).
Duties of Energy Managers
• Report to BEE and State level Designated Agency once
in a year, the report is in the format as decided by BEE
& contains following Information,
1. Energy Consumption
2. The Recommendations by Accredited Auditors
3. The Action Plan against the recommendations & status

• Establish a System for correct recording, collection,


monitoring & analysis of Energy Consumption

• Provide support to Accredited Energy Audit Firm for the


conduct of energy audit
Responsibilities of Energy
Managers

• Establish an energy conservation cell within the


firm, Prepare a Policy for Energy Conservation.

• Prepare an Annual Activity Plan to monitor &


reduce Energy Cost.

• Establish a System to Analyze equipment


performance with respect to energy efficiency
• Develop training programs for energy efficiency at
operating levels.

• Create a knowledge bank on sectoral, national and


inter-national development on energy efficiency
technology

• Develop integrated system of energy efficiency and


environmental up gradation.
• Co-ordinate implementation of energy
audit/efficiency improvement projects through
external agencies.

• Establish and/or participate in information


exchange with other energy managers of the
same sector through association
