1 Introduction
9500Microwave Packet Radio Product comes to different architectures and addresses all
microwave applications with a single product family from full outdoor to split-mount
system and nodal configurations.
Following types of MSS are available within Mobily Network: MSS8, MSS4, MSS1.
MSS-8 (the 8 slots version) the Core-EVO is the heart of the system and provides the controller
functions, cross-connection functions, and manages different radio directions. The Core-EVO
platform is based on packet technology with a generic one Gigabit Ethernet serial interface
between CorEvo and peripherals.

1.3 MSS-4 Version
MSS-4 can support Full-protected configurations, including EPS, RPS hitless, HSB and Core board
protection through a Core “Spare” (same PN of Core “Main”) that can be added to provide
Control platform redundancy and protection of aggregated data using an external switch.

Figure 1-3: EAS V2 front panel
EASv2 is a high connectivity board supporting Ethernet access and several radio configurations:
· 1+0 – applicable to MPT-xC
· 1+1 cross-EAS – applicable to MPT-HC optical
· LAG L1 N+0 cross-EAS and intra EAS
· LAG L1 N+N cross EAS (N up to 4) – applicable to MPT-HC optical
· Electrical ports with/without PfoE.

1.4 MSS-1 Version
Stand-alone box, powered through two connectors on the front providing power supply
redundancy.
The box can be mounted in a rack by means of a separate bracket.
The bracket supports one or two boxes (1.3U).

2 Preparation:
Before starting the installation task, make sure that you have all the necessary tools in hand.
Makes sure that the cabinet is grounded to the main bus bar with grounding cable (Green
/Yellow).

2.2 TRU (Top Rack Unit) Installation (If required):
The TRU is a power supply panel used to provide the power supply (- 48V) to the
Equipment.
There are two cables should be connected between main rectifier and TRU:
In case of existing TRU, then the power cable of MPR will be connected directly to the free fuses
based on required current rating.

Then, start to connect the power cable between MSS8/4 to the main source via TRU
Note: For MSS1 integrated LVD (Low Voltage Disconnect) device is suggested in order to
protect the battery devices: the power system senses the battery voltage and sends a signal to
the LVD to connect when the battery voltage rises to a user-defined level; when the battery
voltage drops below another user-defined level, the power system removes the signal from the
LVD and the LVD opens to prevent the batteries from over-discharging.
If the adjacent module/unit is an active one (for example, MSS-4 or MSS-8) one unit on the rack
must be left free above and below the MSS-1 unit to be mounted.
If the adjacent module/unit is a passive one, half a unit free above and below the MSS-1 is
sufficient for cable routing.

2.4.10 Steps of installation:
1- The team should check that all materials needed are available to start with installation
for outdoor part.
2- Start to install the antenna on the required location.
3- Install the ODU directly on the integrated antenna if the configuration is 1+0 or OMT
coupler with two ODUs if the configuration is 2+0.
4- In case of 3+0 OR 4+0 the type of coupler will be OMT-c connected directly with
integrated antenna.

5- The MPT should be connected with grounding source.
6- The Ethernet cable between MSS and MPT should be connected to grounding plate also.
7- Removing the outer shield for the Ethernet cable
8- Then connected the earth kit with Cate 5 Ethernet cable from side and with grounding
plate from another side.

5 Swap Scenarios:
Two types of swap are planned. Cold Swap and Hot Swap. Specific mode to be apply must be
triggered from Survey result and site model type.
The new system is using different frequencies (no interference with existing link’s), available
spaces to install new equipment and cables. Cold is possible if the parallel installation of the
system is ensured on both sides.
1- Check of Prerequisite:
a. Verify new equipment on site
b. Ensure all Network Design plans are approved and available.
2- Install new Link as per survey and planning/design specifications
3- Commissioning and test the new Link.
52 / 54 © Nokia 2017
4- Verify Alarms, RF data, performance, supervision and Point to Point connectivity
5- Before to swap/removing existing Services:
a. Contact NOC and verify existing alarms, Performance and connectivity's status.
b. Check that new equipment/links are supervised.
6- Then, MDT will be start including the following steps:
a. Swap of Distribution cablings and Services
b. After to Services swap:
c. Contact NOC and verify existing alarms and connectivity’s status.
d. If all OK confirm that the site is complete and alarms are clear.
e. Check and KPI evaluation of new system
f. Removing of Old equipment, Site Clean Up, close the MDT with the NOC and
leave.
No possible execute “Cold” as preferential choice. Cases of Hot Swap are for example, Antennas
reusing, No space available in infrastructure, No space in Cabinet/Rack etc….

1- Check of Prerequisite
2- Install as much possible new Items, as per survey and planning/design specifications.
3- Before MDT: Contact NOC and verify existing alarms, performance and Point to point
connectivity status for the existing system.
4- Then, the MDT will be started including the following actions:
g. Switch off existing equipment
h. Install, Commissioning and align the new MW link, then verify Alarms, Activate
Link performance and BIR implementation
i. Swap of Distribution cablings and Services, Then Migrate old traffic
j. After site Migration and old traffic back On Air, Contact NOC and verify existing
alarms.
k. If all OK, then check the visibility of the new link via SAM.
l. If the link is supervised, then Removing of Old equipment, Site Clean Up and MDT
closed.
