1 Routine Test
1.1 Mechanical routine test
Under room temperature, 204+3 samples of FXBW-220/160(Sample No. No.1~No.207)
carried out the routine mechanical tensile load test, withstand for more than 10 s. The test
results were shown in Table 1.1.

1.2 Visual examination
Under room temperature, 204+3 samples of FXBW-220/160(Sample No:No.1~No.207)
carried out the visual inspection. The test results were shown in Table 1.2.

2 Sample test
The sample test items include:
—Verification of dimension (E1+E2);
— Verification of tightness of the interface between end fitting and insulator housing (1 of E2)
and of the specified mechanical load (E1);
—Galvanizing test (E2);
—Recovery of hydrophobicity (2 pieces).
—Silicon content test (2 pieces).

2.1 Verification of dimensions

3 samples (No.1- No.3). The test results were shown in Table 2.1.

2.2 Verification of tightness of the interface between end fittings and insulator housing
(E2) and of the specified mechanical load, SML (E1)
a. Select 1 specimen from E2 at random, carried out the cracks inspection using dye
penetration method according to ISO 3452, to verify the tightness of the interface between
end fitting and insulator housing. The inspecting area: all areas of interface between
housing and end fitting, including end fitting virtual extent area. The specimen:
FXBW-220/160, Sample No. is No.3, the test results were shown in Table 2.2(a).

b. In room temperature, E1: 2 sample of FXBW-220/160 composite insulators, (Sample No.
is No.1-No.2), applied 100% SML on each sample, withstand 1 min. Then carried out the
mechanical failing load test. The test results were shown in Table2.2(b).

2.3 Galvanizing test
1 sample of FXBW-220/160 (Sample No.: No.3), choose 10 points on Y-clevis , Eye to
measure Y-clevis and Eye galvanizing thickness using magnetic method. The test results were

2.4 Recovery of hydrophobicity
On any samples after mechanical test, take one shed from each sample, total 2 sheds were
subjected to hydrophobicity test, the test results are shown in table 2.4.

2.5 Silicon content test

FTIR Test: Reference Standard: GB/T 7764-2001 eqv ISO 4650:1984, The test result of
sample was shown in Annexure I for FTIR report.
TGA Test: Reference Standard: GB/T 14837-93 eqv ISO 9924. The test result of sample
was shown in Annexure II for TGA report.
Conclusion: Silicone content: 42.71%.

3 Conclusions
All test results of the FXBW-220/160 composite insulators manufactured by Dalian Insulator
Group Co., Ltd. are satisfactory with IEC 61109:2008.
