COMPARISON BETWEEN ISTANA JAHAR KELANTAN, HIROSHIMA PEACE MEMORIAL MUSEUM, KAMPUNG LAUT MOSQUE
AND KEDAH STATE GALLERY
Why “REVAMP” ?
All four building had been revamp to become a place to visit for study or to gain experience and knowledge. Istana Jahar Kelantan was
a palace once upon a time and now become a museum. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum once was a small city hall that used to
become multi-functional space but had been destroy and now they built it again at the same place and turn into a museum with park.
Kampung Laut Mosque was a mosque that located at river bank of tumpat but had beed revamp and relocated at Nilam Puri Kelantan.
Kedah State Gallery was also once a court in British time but now had been revamp to become a museum in Kedah.

COMPARISON
ORNAMENTATIONS
Istana Jahar Kelantan, Kampung Laut Mosque and Kedah State Art Museum has malay ornamentation while Hiroshima Peace
Memorial Museum does not have any ornamentation.
One of the main column in Kampung Laut Mosque. Malay ornamentation also applied at Kedah State Art Gallery.
Malay “Papan Cantik”, “Ekor Itik” and “Sisik Naga” are applied at Istana Jahar, Kelantan.

RAISE ON STILT
Istana Jahar Kelantan, Kampung Laut Mosque and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum are all raise on stilt. A set of posts or
piles are supporting the building.
STYLE
Istana Jahar and Kampung Laut Mosque both have Malay Vernacular style architecture. Istana Jahar has also Siamese
influenced architecture showed by the “Ekor Itik” and “Sisik Naga”.
