Time/ Material Lesson Plan


10 minutes Warm Up!
Revision of Irregular Verbs
Get into two teams and write two forms of the irregular verbs, each team
gets a point for the correctly written irregular verb forms
OR
As the topic of our lesson is “Free Time” today, we are going to speak
about “Hobbies” now. “What is a hobby?” “It is something that people
enjoy doing during their free time. It can be reading a book, watching
movies, skiing, skating, travelling, gardening, cooking, dancing, singing, and
so on. As for me I enjoy travelling a lot. What about you? What is your
hobby? What do you enjoy doing during your free time?”
25 minutes / Homework review
Ventures 1 Workbook Review workbook pages 114-117
40 minutes/ Lesson C “What are you going to do?”
Ventures 1 Student’s Section 1 (Grammar Focus)
Book, Write on the board: “What are you going to do next weekend?”
Class Audio CD2, “I am going to study.”
Flashcards with Read the question and answer aloud. Ask Ss to repeat. Then ask several Ss
different activities the same question and write their answers on the board.
Ask Ss to open their Student’s Books on pp.126-127.
Read the questions and answers aloud and ask Ss to repeat after me.
Focus Ss’ attention on the time words next to the grammar chart. Explain
the way we use “be going to” for the future form and revise the formation
of the present simple of the verb “be”.
Turn to page 146 for a complete grammar chart.
Ask Ss to make sentences with “be going to” and the time words written in
the grammar chart.
Section 2 (Practice)
Exercise A:
Read the schedule and answer the questions. Write the answers down.
Then Listen to the class CD2 TK 40 and instruct the Ss to repeat what they
hear on the audio.
Exercise B:
Direct Ss’ attention to the picture in exercise B. Point to each person in the
picture and ask Ss to brainstorm what that person is going to do. Ask Ss to
complete the exercise in pairs, then ask and answer the question for the
class.
Section 3 (Communicate)
I hand out flashcards with different activities and ask Ss to work in groups
ask and answer question “What are you going to do next
Sunday/Monday/Saturday….?” After working in group Ss will tell the class
what each student of their group is going to do next week.

Collaborative Activity “What are you going to do?”
10C Exercise A:
Ask Ss to look at the pictures, complete the questions and write answers.
Exercise B:
Ask Ss to complete the charts and use their own information.

Recap Ask Ss to write four sentences about themselves and their friends.
To begin sentences with the following words:
1. I’m going to…. 2. I’m going to……
3.My friend is going to…. 4. My friend is going to….
