Lesson Plan vs. Instructional Design Documents

How are instructional design and lesson plans different from each other? Instructional design
is a design that translate the principles of learning and instruction into plans for an
instructional material. An Instructional design is a technology that helps the teacher to
develop a written document that contains a better way to design lessons with materials that
will help with more learning experiences and environments for the students. Instructional
design focuses more on the teacher than the students. It helps the teachers to follow the
guidelines that they need to follow such as setting goals and strategies for students. A lesson
plan is a way for teachers to plan out their lessons though the week. It helps them to
understand and it helps them to stay on track. Lesson plans are primarily the focus on
students instead of the teacher like instructional design. A lesson plan helps the teacher to stay
on track and when they are presenting the materials. It also comes in handy for the teachers to
used when they have substitutes. The lesson plan will help guide the substitute through the
materials that she needs to teach the lesson. Lesson plans also let you set different goals for
your sped kids that need accommodations and modification on lessons.
