Use of Direction control valve:-

1) To control the direction of actuator movement, that

means,
a) Extend or retract of hydraulic cylinder.
b) Direction of rotation of hydraulic motor.
LOAD

2) Stop or hold any position of hydraulic actuator.

3) To active or isolate a branch circuit from main
circuit when require.
For extend and retract of double acting cylinder we Valve Cylinder Cylinder
can use for individual manually lever operated ball Extend Retract
valve.
And as per our requirement we have to open or V1 close open
close every valve.

For piston rod extend we have to connect
pressure line ‘P’ with cylinder port ‘A’ and Valve Cylinder Cylinder
tank line ‘T’ to cylinder port ‘B’. Extend Retract

For above operation we need to operate four

individual valve manually. V1 close open

For piston rod extend a single DC valve does
same thing as we did by manually with four
individual valve that’s mean it connects
A B pressure line ‘P’ with cylinder port ‘A’ and
tank line ‘T’ to cylinder port ‘B’.

1) No. of port 4 (A,B,P & T) is depends on operational
requirement.
2) No. of switching condition 3
a) P connected to B & A connected to T

b) All port isolated.
