C. Description

The Main Right Hydraulic Supply consists of a mounting plate that ensures the
attachment of the equipment on the aircraft. It is topped by a hydraulic reservoir.

In addition to the various unions mounted on the distribution ports located on its
periphery, the mounting plate accommodates:

- An accumulator screwed in the mounting plate; it is an elastomer bladder type,

charged with nitrogen, and constitutes flow power storage to be used to damp
the pressure variations and surges.

- A drain valve, used to drain the reservoir.

- A high pressure filter provided with a clogging indicator with automatic

locking at negative temperatures.

- The quick disconnects.

- A pressure relief valve, designed to protect the hydraulic circuit from

overpressure.

- A pressure transmitter, to monitor pressure of the high pressure line.

-A pressure switch, to send an alarm when the pressure decreases abnormally

(<110b)
- A check valve, installed on the emergency electric pump discharge.

- A check valve, installed on the low pressure return line.

- A level probe, which opens a contact when fluid is at low level.

- A Solenoid valve, to shut off the tail servo control.

The mounting plate also bears, at its upper face, three suction tubes located
inside the reservoir.

The reservoir, assembled to the mounting plate through four ties and seals
accommodates, at its top:

- A main connector, which centralizes the electrical input/output.

- A gravity filling port, fitted with an oil filter.

- The low pressure filter interface, which accommodates the clogging indicator.

The reservoir side wall is provided with one level sight for visual checking of
the fluid level.

2. Operation

NOTA: ALL THE REFERENCES LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTED IN

FIGURE 3

The hydraulic fluid enters by the main pump pressure MP1 and the check-valve (44),
goes by the filter (36) and is steered to the accumulator (38). This one supplies the
pressure to the main servocontrol P1 and the pressure transmitter (39). This one
supplies the pressure to the rear servocontrol P2.

Hydraulic pressure can be supplied by the port QP.

In case of overpressure at the enter of the filter (36), a pressure relief valve (35)
discharge the fluid to the reservoir.

A clogging indicator (36.1) is fitted on the pressure filter (36.2) and allows a visual
control of clogging filter. The accumulator (38), charged with nitrogen, constitutes a
flow and power storage to damp the pressure variations and surges.

A pressure transmitter (39) gives the pressure in the pressure circuit.

The return port R2 is canalized to the reservoir through the return filter (33).

The pressure return of the main servocontrol R1 and the by-pass return RP are steered
to the reservoir through the return filter (33).

When the filter (33.2) is clogged, the by-pass valve opens in order to the pressure go to
the reservoir. In this case, the clogging indicator of the return filter (33.5) gives a visual
indication of the clogging of the filter.

A level probe provokes the opening of a contact on a connector in case of use fluid low
level.

Two use openings go back from the reservoir: Main pump suction MS1 and external
suction connection QS as well as the opening of the drain plug D.

TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION

1. Testing

Considering the I-level maintenance philosophy and the technology adopted in the
equipment design, this sub-section "Testing" is aimless.

Only the dysfunctions and/or the decreasing performance of the components which
should be disassembled during the I-level maintenance schedule shall be taken into
account in the sub-section "Troubleshooting" below.

Any other anomaly requires the replacement of the complete equipment and the
reconditioning of the removed equipment according to the higher maintenance level.

- Screw the knurled button while watching the pressure-gauge pointer. When the
pointer leaves zero, keep on screwing (1/2 turn is sufficient, it is not necessary
to screws home).
- Read the inflating pressure; adjust the pressure accordingly.

C. Accumulator pressurizing
- Remove the knurled plug.
- Connect the hose end to port.
- Open the nitrogen cylinder valve and display a 90 bar (1 306 psi) pressure on
the pressure-relief valve.
- Check the inflating pressure at the charger-tester pressure-gauge (90 bar (1 306
psi)) for a temperature of +20°C (+68°F):
 if necessary, adjust the pressure with the pressure-relief valve (to
increase it) or with the main bleed-valve (to reduce it).

NOTE: It is compulsory to wait for the stabilization of the heat exchange due to
pressure variations before checking or adjusting the preload.
For safety’s sake, the nitrogen supply source must be cut-off during the
stabilization phase.

- Shut the nitrogen cylinder, let the pressure drop at the pressure-relief valve and
remove the charger-tester.

CAUTION: BEFORE LOOSENING UNION, UNSCREW KNURLED

BUTTON AND BLEED-HANDLE COMPLETELY.

- When the charger-tester has been removed, make sure the pressurizing-valve is
sealed using soapy water or a gas leak detector product.

ASSEMBLY AND STORAGE

1. General

A. Installing seals and packings

All the elastomer rings, specially designed for hydraulic slave control, must
always be delivered to the assembly shop in opaque and sealed packing 6 years
as a maximum.

When the ring has been taken out of its bag, dip it into the operating fluid (MIL-
PRF-83282).

Remove the seal from its bag. The bag can be cut open using a cutter or pair of
scissors, but first determine the position of the seal or the different components
of the packing to avoid damaging it / them.
Moisten the seal with the service fluid when installing it.
Specific instructions are given on a case-by-case basis for those that require
impregnation.

Installation is by hand or using a specially designed smooth-edged spatula. Parts

and grooves accommodating seals will be lightly coated with service fluid.

B. Hardware tightening torques

Refer to section “FITS AND CLEARANCES”

2. Required toolings and products

A. Standard toolings

- Mechanic’s standard tool kit

- Torque wrenches with accessories

NOTE: THE MAXIMUM TIGHTENING TORQUE OF THE

DYNAMOMETRIC TOOL USED SHALL BE LESS THAN 3 TIMES THE

INTRODUCTION

1. GENERAL

This Illustrated Parts List (IPL) figures out the list of components of main right
hydraulic supply MA6946-000 and variants which replacement is I-level. It obeys the
ATA 100 instructions.

The IPL contains these sections:

- Introduction,

- Vendor code index,

- List of circuit symbols (if applicable),

- Alphanumeric index of manufacturer’s part numbers (when applicable),

- Detailed parts list

2. USE OF DETAILED PARTS LIST

The detailed pats list includes the nomenclature and illustrations of unit components.

- 1st column: Figure and Item number

- 2nd column: Part Number

- 3rd column: Nomenclature

- 4th column: Application code

- 5th column: Units per Assembly

A. Figure and Item Numbers

An item number is given to each part-numbered assembly, sub-assembly or item

in the parts list.

The figure number, which includes the items in the list, is given on the first line
at the top of each page.

Assemblies, sub-assemblies and parts in the list which are not illustrated are
identified with a dash (-) before the item number.

B. Manufacturer’s Part Number

A manufacturer’s part number is given to each assembly, sub-assembly and

detail parts (illustrated or not).

C. Nomenclature

The nomenclature is indented to show the item relationship as follows:

1234567
Assembly
.Detail parts for assembly
.Subassembly
Attaching parts and/or storage parts for sub-assembly
***
..Detail parts for sub-assembly
Sub-subassembly
Attaching parts and/or storage parts for sub-subassembly
***
...Detail parts for sub-assembly
etc…

A vendor code is given for all items or articles not made by the prime
manufacturer of the assembly.

This vendor code or the abbreviation “NP” (Non Procurable) is written at the far
right-hand side in the first line of the nomenclature.

D. Effectivity Code

In a figure, the part number identified by an effectivity code shows that the
coded part must be used with other parts identified with the same alpha
designation. Also, coded parts can be used with all other non-coded parts (no
alpha designation).

The effectivity code must begin with A and continue with B, C, … Z. If

required, the succession will follow BA, CA, DA … ZA, CB, DB, EB, … DC,
EC, FC, etc. The succession will always begin with the subsequent alpha set
which follows the last set by one alpha.

E. Units per Assembly

The units par assembly column shows the number of necessary units for the
subsequent higher assembly. In some cases, the letters “RF” (Reference) or
“AR” (As Required) replace this information.
