Assessment 1: Executive Summary

Executive summary
 An executive summary is a paragraph that provides the
reader with a quick overview of the entire report,
including its purpose, context, methods, major findings,
conclusions and recommendations.
 It is often easier to write the executive summary once
the report has been completed.
 This is placed on a separate page between the title
page and the table of contents. This may often be the
only part of the report that is actually read.
 See Queensland University of Technology (QUT):

 Beyond the core structure (Exec. Summary, Intro,

Main Body & Conclusion) your report should
cover the following:
 The new route including airport codes
 The aircraft type along with number of aircraft to
be added to the fleet
 Forecast likely demand (e.g. look at things like
directional and seasonal demand, business versus
leisure travellers, wider network benefits, etc.)
 The key rationale/s for adding this new route

 Select elements of SWOT and/or PESTE and/or

Porter’s five forces to help scaffold and guide your
report’s structure and focus

key concepts
3. Plan and Structure: Develop a scaffold or plan covering how
you will structure your assignment
