Activity 9 & 10 – Slides TARGET

Presentation At the end of this activity, you will be competent in determining the use of slides
presentation in the teaching-learning process.
MAP
This activity provides an opportunity for you to investigate the value of slides
presentation as an aid to enhance the teaching-learning process.
TOOLS
As you conduct an interview to a teacher and 2 students in the class, use the
guide questions provided for you as you facilitate the talk. The table below will
serve as your template in writing down all the teachers’ answers.

OBSERVATION GUIDE FOR TEACHER INTERVIEW ON INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS


Read the following statements carefully before you conduct the interview.
1. Formally transact through a letter to make an appointment with two teachers regarding your interview.
2. Always express courtesy during the interview (starting with introducing yourselves, then politely asking questions)
3. Take pictures to document this interview and attached in this sheet.

For the Teacher
1. (For the teacher) How often do you use slides presentation as an instructional material? On what purpose
do you use it?

Our resource teacher always used slides presentations when she has class discussion.
According to her, it is easier to use slides because she can put some additional information
mentioned in the module that she was following. It is also a way of getting the attention of the
students because some are getting bored during discussion. In addition, if there is a slide
presentation, the students were able to follow the flow of the teacher's discussion .

2. (For the teacher) Do you find the use of slides presentation as a more effective aid in enhancing your
lesson? Is the preparation time-consuming but worth it?

According to our resource teacher, using slides are effective in the sense that when there is a
need for clarifications about a particular lesson she can easily put some additional information
that can be useful to enhance the lesson. She assumed that students prefers something to be
seen when there is a discussion so that they can focus and be able to understand deeper about
the topic being presented.

For the students
3. (Student 1 & 2) Do you find the slides presentation of your teacher an appropriate material and an effective
tool in enhancing your understanding of the lesson? Why? Why not?

Here are the information we are able to gather from the two students we interviewed: Both of
them found that using slide presentations of the teacher is appropriate material and effective
tool in enhancing their understanding from the lesson. According to them, slide presentation
can catch their attention and can get their interest to listen about the lesson. Although they still
read some concept notes/handouts but the matter that when the teacher presents the lesson
with use of slide presentation, they can understand and catch the lesson easily. They always
prefer that teachers will use slides when they have their discussion.

From your point of view as observers

4. How do you personally assessed the slides presentation of the teacher observed? Did it served its purpose
in aiding and enhancing the teaching-learning process? (summarized all your group members answer)
Yes! It really served its purpose in aiding and enhancing the teaching learning process
because the student will always rely on the slide that the teacher shows in the monitor or

screen TV. It really give the assessment of the presentation of the teacher and it caters the
need of the learner in teaching learning process like showing what is the discussion all about
otherwise it was given already. The only thing that a learners do is to improve their prior
knowledge and capabilities with the given topic
