These were the questions that inspired us to study about the parental

itself which affects the relationship between mother and child, but the context within which
it is embedded, for example, if there is lack of support to enable the mother to be a hands-

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the researcher’s enclosed research design, source of data,
sampling procedure, and key informant. This outlines the ways in which the research was
conducted, the data were gathered, and also identifies the methods used in this study.
Research design
This qualitative research study will utilize case study design. According to Saul
community. Typically, data are gathered from a variety of sources and by using several
methods.
We chose this design because our study will just have a respondent that we will
observe, question, and interview. We chose this design because this kind of design tackles
Case study will prove things or answer the questions provided of the paradigm of
this study by conducting it to our only respondent which suites the qualifications of our
research. By interviewing the key informant, we, researchers, have to gather information
about this person and will focus on some important aspects only which in line with the
research problem. We will also focus on the challenges, way of handling the challenges
Sources of data
This research will employ on primary source of data which will be based on the

Primary source of data comes in firsthand information gathered. In this study, data
will come from the respondent’s experience of cutting, or trying to commit suicide in
Key informant

procedure to gather data that will be used in the study, given only one respondent, we

children with his wife working overseas. And he only lives near by the neighborhood of

We picked a respondent who can be qualified as key informant by looking at their profiles
and background. Based on the main topic of this study, we need a respondent who is a
Choosing the perfect respondent for this research will be giving us the kind of data
needed as well as the ample saturation of data. Case study is used as a research design, and
therefore, we need one respondent to be chosen as a key informant for this study.

respondent to be interviewed, given their location, time availability, status, and willingness
to be a part of this study. We plan to interview the key informant regarding his/her life
Instrumentation
Interview Guide. The interview guide is a list of questions that can be asked from the key
informant to gather the ample data saturation required in this study. Open ended questions
will be used. Under this format, we prepared an interview guide to allow the natural flow
of the conversation, which questions could be asked randomly. Meanwhile, there is always
an opportunity for us researchers to ask ‘off-script’ to attain much more detailed responses..
Data Analysis
In this study, we researchers use content and discourse analysis method to
compile, analyze, and process raw data, from the key informant, during the interview
process.
Content analysis is used to analyze the responses of the key informant, such as the

respondent reacts with the questions we give. Given their unique functions, when combined
as one, is believed to be the best analysis method to be utilized for this study.
