1.Overview
■■1-1.Overview
Device Migration Navigator is a tool for identifying an efficient settings/data migration means
used during installation of an iR/imagePRESS/iR-ADV machine.
■■1-2. Background
In order to reduce the service cost for "installation (replacement/mass installation)" and "data
migration during maintenance", various data migration means have been implemented in new
MFP to deal with various use cases.
However, the major increase in the number of means makes it difficult to identify "the
means appropriate for the situation". It is therefore necessary to have a tool for selecting an
appropriate means which satisfies the requirements.
■■1.3. Purpose
The purpose of this tool is to make it easy to select an appropriate data migration means
when performing one of the following service works on iR/imagePRESS/iR-ADV.
- Installation
- Replacement
- Backup/restoration of data in the machine during a service work
3. Installation, startup, and termination
■■3-1. Installation
There is no installer for this tool.
It can be used just by unzipping the distributed zip file.
When the zip file is unzipped, a DMN folder containing this tool is created.
The DMN folder contains the tool (DMN.exe) and related data.
Due to the restriction of the module used in this tool, the full path of DMN.exe needs to be
128 bytes or less (including the file name "DMN.exe") in UTF-8.
It is therefore necessary to save the unzipped folder in a layer which is not too deep.
In order to change the installation location of this tool, the whole DMN folder should be moved
using Explorer.
CAUTION:
- If the path name to the execution file is longer than 128 bytes in UTF-8 notation at
startup of the tool, an error is displayed and the tool is terminated. The path length
includes the file name "DMN.exe".

2. Operation Environment
This tool runs on a local PC where 32-bit Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 64-bit Windows 7 runs.
In the case of Windows XP, it is necessary to install .NET Framework 3.0 in advance.

CAUTION: F-1-2
To display "Japanese" with non-Japanese version of Windows XP, additional
installation of Japanese font is required.
Execute the following: Control Panel (Classic) > Regional and Language Options
> Languages > Install files for East Asian languages.Installer CD of Windows XP is
needed.

Double-click DMN.exe in the DMN folder.

CAUTION:
If the same user starts the execution file of this tool again while executing it, the tool
started later is exited without displaying anything.

Contents of selection are displayed on "Source model" in the selection results display

1) Select "Color/BW" and "Series", and then select Source model from the list to be displayed
in "Source model".

The selection results display field is updated when [Next] is clicked.
Even when selection is changed by clicking the [Back] button, displayed contents are

1) Select Target model like selection of source model. When the same model is selected for Source model and Target model, "Target device
serial number" can be selected.
To restore backup data to the source device, select [Same as source device] in [Target
device serial number].

6.Print/save
Click [Print] to display the standard Windows print dialog. To make a print, select a printer you
want to use, and click [Print]. To save the screen as a file (in XPS format), select [Microsoft
XPS Document Writer] and click [Print].
