The first week of my work immersion was December 17, 2018 to December
21,2018. On that first week, I thought working in your chosen field would be a lot
easier because you already have a background on what you are going to do but
everything that I expect was wrong. Working in the real field is like being an
ignorant child, you must adjust on the surrounding, the people and everything. I’m
a bit nervous and excited for what will happen in my first day of work immersion. I
am new to everything and I don’t think I would become an effective immersionist
of School Division Office because I don’t have any experiences to show them and
because for me, I’m not yet ready.

On my second week of training, I was able to attend the fist day of duty, it
was last December 28,2018. It was not a busy day for me at the office. I enjoyed
that day because COA Office asked us to compile some important documents to
know how far we understand about working. We still tied even though we knew
that it was difficult. Because of that, I’m so much determined to study more about
accounting.

My 3rd day of immersion is at ease, we’re just assigned to answer the calls,
encoding some important documents and arranged different papers because it
look so messy and disordered. In the afternoon, I didn’t expect that me and my co-
immersionist, Diane Dalagan from CSPC with good communication skill would play
us a joke while working.

INTRODUCTION

Work immersion is a real-world experience at Senior High. The sector’s lack

of knowledge, skills, and work experience puts them at a disadvantage. One way
to address this is through the Department of Education’s Senior High School (SHS)
program, ushered by the K-12 education.

One of its components, the work immersion program, that provides students
“real workplace” experience, giving them a set of technical-vocational and
livelihood skills that can help them make more informed career choices and
improve their employment prospects.

Through this program, students an be ready for their big step in working be

Fully equipped in their chosen fields. In work immersion, students experienced the
special interaction in work environment that would prepare them to the real-life
situation.

I am very grateful for having them as part of my work immersion for all their
advices and for everything they thought me during those days. Most especially the
memories everyone shared.

To my Friends and classmates, for being there always, support, and advice
wherever I have difficulties. I thank them for the teamwork and friendship whom I
can share my laughter’s and problems.

Lastly but more importantly to our Almighty God for hid unconditional love
blessings and guidance. By His grace, I finish this training without any conflict.

REFLECTION

In our country, Youth unemployment is such a big deal and plays a vital and

meaningful economic development. Therefore, the Department of Education

address this through the Senior High School (SHS) program in connection to the

K-12 education reform. One of these components, the work immersion program

that provides students “real workplace” experience, giving students a set of

technical-vocational and livelihood skills that can help them make more informed

career choices and improve their employment prospects.

It is indeed a useful tool to learn the jobs that can be learned by watching

and doing. It was the 17th day of December 2018 when I started work immersion

at SCHOOL DIVISION OFFICE particularly in COA office. I expected a lot from

them during my training days. And in doing so, Yes, I learned a lot of things and

activities related to accounting which could help me to practice and apply the

knowledge I’ve learned during the immersion. Nervousness and shyness are

always when it’s you’re first day because it is new environment to me and I’m not

yet familiar with the employees and in the kind of work they may be given to me.

But its all worth it. I think I am now ready to surmount all the obstacles which

will pass along the way.
