CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background Issues

Waste problem certainly is not foreign to our ears. If you hear the term garbage,
surely that comes to mind is a pile of rotting waste that pose a very pungent aroma. Trash is
defined as unwanted waste material after the end of a process that tends to damage the
surrounding environment.

The elements that affect the amount of waste is increasing human activity , the
number / density of population , and waste management systems . First , the trash caused by
human activity . The number or volume of waste is proportional to the level of our
consumption of goods or materials that we use everyday . In addition , the type of waste (
organic or inorganic ) also affect waste management . Second , the number / density of
population . The rate of population growth is rapidly increasing in the major cities , especially
Bali also led to an increase of the amount of trash . Third , the waste management system .
Waste management systems , especially in the city of Bali also needs special attention .
Midden increasingly widespread , limited land which will function as a waste treatment
facility into which aspects need to be considered . Problems of this kind arise due to the
imbalance of production and processing of garbage with the decline in the carrying capacity
of nature as a garbage dump .

From the elements already mentioned, we decided to conduct research on waste

management Penelokan market, Kintamani, Bangli. Conditions seen Penelokan Market Area
is not pleasant aroma arising from the garbage, crowded places, and dirty Penelokan Market.
Therefore, we decided to analyze the causes of problems in the market Penelokan trash and
find alternative solutions in the study entitled 'Alternative Solution Waste Issues in the
Market Penelokan'.

1.2 Problem Formulation.

a. What happens cause waste problems in the Market Penelokan, Kintamani, Bangli?
b. What is appropriate and innovative solutions to the problems of garbage in the Market
Penelokan,Kintamani,Bangli?
.

1.3. purpose

a. Knowing the cause of the problem of waste occurs in the Market Penelokan,
Kintamani, Bangli.
b. Getting the appropriate and innovative solutions to the problems of garbage in the
Market Penelokan, Kintamani, Bangli.

CHAPTER II DISCUSSION
2.1. Cause Problems in Market Trash
Trash the market has slightly different characteristics from residential garbage. The
composition of the waste market dominant organic waste. Plastic waste is considerably
less than the scum of the housing. Similarly, the garbage in general, market waste
processing if no good can cause health effects and the effects on the environment.
Better waste management will have a positive influence on society and the environment,
as follows:

a. Trash can be used for some sort of hoard land swamps and lowlands.
b. Sampah can be used as fertilizer.
c. Trash can be given to animal feed after undergoing a management process that has
been determined in advance to prevent the bad influence of the trash to livestock.
d. Waste management leads to reduced breeding place for insects and rodents.
e. Reduce the incidence of infectious disease cases are closely connected with the trash
f. The state of aesthetic clean environment raises the excitement of living environment
better reflects masyarakatKeadaan kemajuaan culture. Environmental conditions that
will either save the health expenditures of a country so that the funds can be used for
other purposes.

Effect on Health
1. As a means of transmission of the disease
Trash can be a breeding and nest nests of various kinds of vectors of disease
transmission. Vector in question include flies, cockroaches, mosquitoes and rats. Flies
and cockroaches are vectors of disease transmission abdominal infections. Mosquitoes
are vectors of malaria transmission, DHF, elephantiasis. Rats are vectors of
transmission of bubonic plague. (MOH, 1987)
The vector used to live in places that are dirty and smell the rot would be interested.
Trash dominant market with a relatively fast wet garbage foul. So that the waste can
become a breeding market and the food of the vector (MOH, 1987).
2. Waste as a causative factor of disease
In a pile of junk market dominated wet waste contains a lot of worm eggs. Moreover
trash can also cause skin diseases, fungal and gastrointestinal diseases. Certain
materials, like those containing nitrite contained in the waste by direct contact can
cause allergies and irritation (DepkesRI, 1987).
3. There was an accident as a result of indiscriminate waste disposal for example
wounds caused by sharp objects such as glass, metal, and so on.
4. psychosomatic disorders, such as insomnia, stress, etc. (Mukono, 1995) Influence on
the environment
1. Aesthetic environment became less eye-catching (MOH, 1987)
2. The process of litter decomposition by microorganisms to produce certain gases
that cause foul odors (MOH, 1987)
3. Seepage (leacheate) fluid that has undergone Perporasi and contain dissolved
materials that can be harmful to health, may contaminate surface water, ground
water and water bodies are located near the garbage disposal if no good supervision
(MOH, 1987).
2
Influence on the social, economic, cultural

1. Waste management reflects the unfavorable socio-cultural community.

2. The environment is poor and squalid, will lower the interest and desire of others to
come visit the area (Mukono, 2006)
3. increased morbidity and reduced working day sehigga declining productivity
societies.
4. The repair of damaged environments requires substantial funds so that the funds for
other sectors is reduced.
5. The decrease in the quality and natural resources so that the quality of production
decline and has no economic value.
6. Accumulation of rubbish on the roadside causing traffic jams that can inhibit the
activity of transportation of goods and services (Chandra, 2007).

2.2 How to Generate Alternative Solutions

The solution is obtained through the discussion with the following .

1. For the long term , the robot can be developed waste management . The working
principle of the robot is to detect the presence of garbage with sensory tools
embedded in the robot , then garbage will be collected by suction as the dust or use a
hand of the robot itself .

2. The Government may make an effort to invite the residents who live around the
Market Penelokan, Kintamani, Bangli together to cleanse the area there. Therefore,
the need for coordination between the citizens, the janitor, and the government so that
the community service activities can be realized and running smoothly. Having done
community service, to clear the area, we can find somewhere new alternatives as new
landfills that do not disturb the residents and road users. Suggested an alternative
place is a vast place, far from home, and also become a strategic place for the
recycling bins.
3. The establishment of the organization or container for waste management. Its
members consist of people who are concerned about the trash and have the creativity
to recycle waste. Organization or the container can coordinate with the officials so
that the rubbish bins that exist in the market Penelokan, Kintamani, Bangli is not
wasted by useless and can produce something useful.

4. Making cars waste processing. Its working principle is initially divided into several
parts bins, such as organic waste, paper, plastic, and metal. Furthermore, prepared
four car processing the waste. Each car will process the waste into new products, such
as cars creates organic fertilizer processing, paper processing car will produce new
paper through the process of smelting, automobile plastic and metal processing will
3
result in discharge to be reproduced and reused in the plant. In addition to reducing
the piles of garbage in Penelokan market, Kintamani, Bangli, processing junk car is
also more efficient because it does not require a large place.
