EXPLANATION OF TPACK
TPACK is an acronym for Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge. This is the
system in which teachers utilize the technology for the teaching process.
b. PK – Pedagogical Knowledge
Pedagogical Knowledge for this chosen topic includes teachers’ strategies in
developing a good classroom management, developing and implementing a
lesson plan for Simple Present Tense and an appropriate teaching styles
matching students’ need.
d. TK – Technological Knowledge
Technological Knowledge in this discussion concerning about teachers’
knowledge about the use of computers and how to use computer operation
systems (such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, Linux), computer
software (in this case – Camtasia), hardware (LCD Projector) and the use of
internet to help collecting useful resources for the material (Simple Present
Tense).
Camtasia is very useful for teaching English or other subjects. This software is used to make a
video tutorial directly with video screen capture. Due to this mechanism of utilizing video
capture, actually people can use broad range of variations in making their own tutorial.
For example, people type in Microsoft Office while Camtasia is actively recording the process.
For this topic, people can type the function of Simple Present Tense. While typing, they can
speak for explaining further about the subject. After that, they can type the patterns of Simple
Present Tense followed by the examples. They are free to add spoken explanation as Camtasia
will keep recording during the whole process of explanation.
Aside from typing and speaking, people can also switch between different programs. For
example, while describing the sentence examples of Simple Present Tense, they can switch to
image viewer to illustrate the example with images. They are also given capability to open video
player software and internet browser to give further illustration.
After the recording process has completed, the recording can be saved into different video
formats such as *.mp4, *.wmv, *.mov and *.avi. After that, the video output can be played as the
teaching instrument to explain about the topic being discussed, Simple Present Tense for
example.
