CPM will help to keep a track on your project as well as to complete the whole project on
time. CPM is an important tool for managing your project’s schedule. Critical path analysis is
one of the key elements in CPM. The critical path is the sequence of activities with the
longest duration. Delay in one activity will affect the delay of the whole project. The path
with the longest duration is known as the critical path. Backward Pass is a kind of technique
useful to determine the latest date an activity can start and the latest date it can finish
without causing any delays in the project.
PERT is used along with CPM to analyze and represent the tasks involved in completing a
given project. An arrow network construction is incorperated represent the activities and
their relationships in the project. By uncertainity It is possible to schedule a project without
knowing the exact duration of all the activities. Time is the most concerned factor rather
than cost PERT. In contract to CPM PERT may use three different time estimates. Namely
shortest time , longest time and the lightly time. This technique may apply to very large
scale , complex , non – routine research and development projects along side with CPM.
This is a kind of process analysis tool a laying step by step approach to identify possible
failures in a design , manufacturing assembly process or even in a product or service “failure
modes” are the errors or defects affect customers. “Effect analysis” will study about the
consequences of these failures. FMEA will guide to take action to eliminate or reduce
failures according to their priority order. FMEA also be used for continuous improvement.
The role of FMEA start at the very beginning of the design stage and will continue
throughout the life of the product or service.
