Good morning, class! Good morning, Sir.

How are you today? We're fine, Sir.

It's good to hear that.

 Prayer "Lord, thank you for the blessings you

have given unto us everyday, forgive us

2. Review
Game: "Hear and Act"
The teacher will say a word then the pupils will
act the words being uttered by the teacher.
The pupils will perform the game.
Stand up Sit down
Look to the left Look to the right

The pupils who fail to perform well the action

will answer a question.
What was our topic last meeting? Our topic last meeting was all about the
Solar System.

What is the biggest planet? The biggest planet is Jupiter.

What planet is very close to the sun? The planet that is very close to the sun is
Mercury.

Which planet which is perfect place for living? The planet which is perfect place for
living is, Earth.

3. Unlocking of difficult terms

The teacher will let the pupils match the column

A to column B as for unlocking the difficult
terms.

The pupils will match the Column A to

Column A Column B Column B.

1. orbit a. movement of the object on its axis. 1. c

2. axis b. movement of the object around 2. d

another object.

3. revolution c. the curved path of the Earth around 3. b

the Sun.
4. a
4. rotation d. the imaginary line describing the
Earth’s tilt.

B. Engagement

The teacher will introduce a song entitled “Earth

with the Sun"

“The Earth with the sun goes round and rotate (3x)
It comes with both day and night (3x)
All through the day. (Choral Singing)
The Earth with the sun revolves and turn (3x) The pupils will sing the song entitled
It causes the 4 Seasons summer and winter, fall and autumn. “Earth with the Sun”.
All through the year.”
What is the song all about? The song is about the Earth.

What do you call the Earth’s rotation and revolution?

Motions of the Earth.

Our lesson for today is about "Motions of the Earth".

C. Guide Questions

The teacher will post guide questions.

Guide Questions:

1. Do all parts of the Earth receive light as it rotates on its

axis? Why?
The pupils will read the guide questions.
2. What is the effect of the Earth's rotation?

3. What have you noticed about the amount of light

received by Earth as it revolves around the Sun?

4. What do you think are the occurrences when Earth

revolves around the Sun?

D. Exploration/Presentation

The teacher will show a video clip presentation

The pupils will watch a video clip
on the rotation and revolution of Earth.
presentation.

Now class, what is the title of the video?

The motions of the Earth

What have you seen in the video?

I have seen Planets, Moon, and Sun.

What have you observed in the video?

I have observed that morning comes when
Earth rotates on its axis.
E. Answering the Guide Questions

1. Do all parts of the Earth receive light as it rotates Not all parts have received the light from
on its axis? Why? the sun it is because the Earth is tilted.

The causes of the Earth’s rotation is day

2. What is the effect of the Earth's rotation? and night.

I have noticed that the Earth receives

3. What have you noticed about the amount of light different amount of light from the sun as it
received by Earth as it revolves around the sun? rotates.

The occurrences of Earth’s revolution are

4. What do you think are the occurrences when
the 4 seasons – Summer, winter, spring
Earth revolves around the sun? and autumn.

F. Explaination

 Rotation is the movement of object on its axis,

the Earth rotates from West to east. It is
clockwise as seen above North Pole and counter-
clockwise as seen above South Pole. One
complete rotation is defined as a day that takes
23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.2 seconds. The
causes from the Earth's rotation are the
following:

1. Earth's rotation may result to the occurrence of

day and night.
2. The daily rising and setting of the Sun, Stars and
the Moon are the pattern of motions visible in
the sky.

3. Earth's rotation affects the flow of air and water

on Earth.

 Revolution is the movement of an object around

the bigger object. Earth revolves around the Sun.
Its orbit around the sun is in the form of a
slightly flattened circle called an ellipse.

 The distance of the Earth from the Sun varies,

the closest is at 147 million kilometers, it is
called Perihelion and the farthest is at 152
million kilometers, it is called Aphelion.

 The period of one revolution around the Sun is

defined a year, 365.24 solar days or 365 days, 5
hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds. The Earth's
axis is tilted, this axis remains fixed in space this
part is the Southern hemisphere. The causes
from the Earth's revolution is the occurrence of
seasonal changes: Winter, Spring, Summer, and
Autumn.

Do you have any question?

None, Sir.

Okay class, if you don’t have anymore

questions, let us go on to our activity.

Are you all excited?

Yes, Sir.

G. Developmental Activity

a. Settings of Standard
b. Group Activity

(The pupils will make it for 10 minutes)

c. Output Presentation

The groups will be given different activities.

Group 2- Fill in the blank to complete the sentences.
Group 2- Fill in the blank to complete the
sentences.
Group 3- Act out how Earth rotates, use a flashlight
and a globe.

F. Generalization

What are the two motions of the Earth? The two motions of the earth are, rotation
and revolution.

What is Earth’s rotation? Rotation of the earth only turns or spins, it

last for a day and it causes day and night
and it affects the flow of air and water.
And what is Earth’s revolution?
Revolution of the earth spins around the
sun on its axis called ellipse, it occurs for
a year and it causes the occurrence of the
four seasons.
*Values Integration

Why do we need to know the motions of the Earth?

We need to know these motions of the
earth for us to know how we experience
the day and night and the changes of the
seasons.
