Eqn 9.1** fctk ,fl = {1+(200/h)^0.5}* fctk (0.05)

4.072 Should be less than or equal to 2 * f ctk (0.05)

2 x fctk (0.05) = 3.78 N/mm2

Therefore fctk,fl = 3.780 N/mm2

Eqn 9.4** Radius of relative stiffness (l) = [Ecm*h3/{12*(1-v2)*k}]0.25

Therefore l = 863 mm

Eqn 9.9** Negative moment capacity Mn = (fctk,fl/gc)*(h2/6)

Therefore Mn = 9.45 kN-m/m

Eqn EI** Positive bending moment capacity = Mp = (0.95*As*fy*d)/ gs)

To start with take Mp as 9.45 kN-m/m
Diameter of the bar = 8 mm
Area of steel As = 254.21 mm2
Percentage of steel in either direction rx,ry = 0.1695 %

As = 152.53 mm2
H 8 @ {1000*p*(bar dia)2/4}/As = 330
Therefore provide H 8 @ 200 mm c/c
Therefore area of steel provided = 251.33 mm2
Mp = 9.3428 kN-m
Also Mp should not be greater than Mn
Provid A393 Fabric considering the severe environmental considerations.
Therefore Mp = 9.3428 kN-m

Minimum imposed concentrated load on the slab= 80 kN

Ultimate load = P*gf = 128 kN

Calculation of equivalent contact radius of load (a):

5.1.3 Contact area = 50 x 50 = 2500 mm2
BS 6399-1 Contact earth pressure = (concentrated imposed load/contact area)
Table - 10 Contact earth pressure = 51.2 N/mm2
Reynolds Total contact area for the maximum wheel load = P/(contact earth pressure)
hand book
Therefore Total contact area (A) = 2500 mm2
Equivalent contact diameter for the load = D = SQRT(4*A/p)
Therefore D = 56.419 mm
Fig.9.3 ** Equivalent contact radius of load (a) = (D/2) Therefore a = 28.209 mm

9.11** d= 112.5 mm
Length of the punching perimeter at the face of the loaded area = 2pa = u0
177.25 mm
shear stress vp is given by {P/(Perimeter*depth)}
Therefore shear stress vp = 6.4192 N/mm2

Eqn Slab load capacity Pp = vrdc*u1*d Therefore Pp = 270.62 kN Hence OK

9.31** Since the capacity of the slab is greater than the load coming on the slab, slab is safe

Uniformly distributed load

Self weight of the slab = 3.6 kN/m2

UDL over the slab = 2 kN/m2
Total UDL = 5.6 kN/m2
Appendix The global safety factor of 1.5 is not accounted here as it is already taken into
B4** account in the calculation of ultimate negative resistance moment of slab Mn

Load carrying capacity for the maximum sagging moment is given as

w = (1/0.161)*l2*Mp Therefore w = 39.76 kN/m2 Hence OK
