This research article studied the antimicrobial activity of cinnamon against urinary tract infection pathogens and the fungus Aspergillus niger. Cinnamon bark and leaf extracts and oil were tested against bacteria isolated from urine samples. The cinnamon extracts showed the presence of phytochemicals like alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, terpenoids, and cardiac glycosides. Thin layer chromatography identified polar compounds in the extracts. Cinnamon oil demonstrated more potent antimicrobial activity than the extracts. The study supports using cinnamon as an alternative to conventional antimicrobial therapies.
