VC’s Address to the Welcome Party 2018

Respected Deans, HODs, Faculty Members and my dear students, it is a pleasure for me to be here

on this wonderful occasion. I welcome all the new students to this prestigious institution.

As you have witnessed, we have students with amazing talents of singing, acting, dancing and

hosting. I appreciate these students as they are not only excelling academically but also are very

active in extra-curricular activities. I feel delighted and satisfied to see that the future of this

institution is in the hands of these brilliant students.

Let me tell you, your experience here is going to be a memorable one. This university is

relatively young yet has developed fast. I, along with my efficient team of Deans, HODs and

Faculty Members, strive to provide you the best environment in order to nurture and polish your

personalities. We have the best faculty on campus to ensure quality education. Since I took over,

we have managed to achieve many milestones including enhancement of its infrastructure having

2 auditoriums and increased capacity of library books, eBooks and journals. The cafeterias and

upcoming projects such as completion of new academic block, multistory parking, the building of

multipurpose sports complex including world class facilities of Gym, Swimming pool, etc, have

added value to the University’s stature.

Many research ventures have been made by the faculty and students. We are also working on

building a sports complex and. We are stepping towards competing with the best universities of

the country in terms of infrastructure. The university has managed to make its mark not only in

our country but has got recognition internationally as well. For example, our teachers are

presenting research papers in international conferences outside the country. This year we have held

12 national and International conferences.

LGU holds the honour of having the Asia’s first ever Digital Forensic Research and Scientific

Centre (DFRSC) in Pakistan. In today’s era of digital technology, LGU has taken many initiatives

in the field of Computer sciences such as MOODLE, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP),

Transparent Language Online (TLO) and Learning Management System (LMS). Being a research

hub of innovation and becoming a benchmark, the university has launched its 5 journals and the

magazine which records and testifies the progress corner to corner and exhibits the literary skills

of our students.

We follow motto: “our students are second to none” and they have already excelled in inter-

university events and international competitions such as Huawei ICT Skills and Hult Prize and

have won numerous medals including gold medal. The aim is to see our scholars growing well and

becoming knowledge workers in the society.

Many of our students have already excelled in inter - university events and international

competitions. I shall highlight some of the achievements out of long list. One of our student was

among the three finalist in International Huawei Competition 2016 selected out of 2500 students

among 138 universities, to represent Pakistan in China. I am happy to announce that 4 of our

students have been selected among 150 students in second round of ongoing Huawei competition

2017 out of 5000 competing students. Another team of ours participated in Semi Finals of Hult
Foundation’s Business Idea International Competition in Dubai, selected on all Pakistan

competition organized by Bill Clinton Foundation of USA. Moreover, our students have won

laurels in the arena of sports and other co-curricular activities. Hence, Dear students you should

be satisfied and proud to be a part of this institute with a promising future. I wish to go miles with

my team for the betterment of your future.

Talking about today’s event I would like to appreciate the efforts of Event Management Committee

for making this Welcome Party happen in the face of terror and chaos. Last but not the least; I

would like to laud the efforts of the students who gave their hearts and souls to the event.

Once again Congratulation and best of luck to all the new comers and best wishes for your future.
