Job Description:

1. Renders nursing care to patients within an assigned area/unit.

2. Maintains accurate and complete records of the nursing observation regarding their
condition as well as treatment and medication.
3. Identifies objective and subjective problems of the patients.
4. Help with the assessment of patient under my care and the newly admitted patient so
as to gather relevant date and information.
5. Prepares the patients and necessary equipment for diagnostic procedures and assists
the physicians.
6. Takes and records vital signs and informs the physician of any changes in the
patients’ condition.
7. Demonstrate competent CPR and other emergencies.
8. Keeps accurate records of the equipment/instruments used in the ward.
9. Checks all equipment on a regular basis making certain that they are in good order.
10. Admits patients as well as carry discharge procedure when the need arises.
11. Evaluates care given to see if this has been effective or not and take the necessary
corrective actions.
12. Maintains a good professional relationship with patient’s relatives as well as
informing any changes in patient’s condition.
13. Provides for head physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the patients.
14. Informs the head nurse/supervisor of the need in the unit as to articles equipment
stocks and others.
15. Conducts individual health teaching and orient newly admitted patients regarding
hospital policies and procedures especially in maintaining the sterility of the ward.
16. Establish and maintains a good rapport with working colleagues.
