1 Analysis of Sheet Pile Structure

1.1.1 Structural Model
Stress – deformation analysis is performed with PLAXIS a finite element computer
program (PLAXIS, B.V, 2013), and stiffness of structural element have been calculated as
follow.
1.1.1.1 Bored Pile
Bored pile is modelled into two elements, as a beam and node to node anchor elements,
in accordance to consider difference of lateral soil resistance at Row A and B. Stiffness of
bored pile is also reduced 50% to consider reducing in lateral soil resistance. Table 5.4.
shows stiffness of bored pile

1.1.1.3 Steel Sheet Pile
1.1.1.3.1 Initial Condition (Up to Installation in year 1993)
Sheet pile Larssen 32W was keep in storage for 20 years, before installation. Corrosion
rate at atmospheric zone 0.07 mm/year. So initial corrosion after 20 years storage = 20
years x 0.07 mm/year = 1.40 mm. (Refer to Scott-Wilson Documents “Matak Wharf Load
Restriction”)
1.1.1.3.2 Existing Condition
With reference to corrosion investigation report (ID-F-MA-CC0-PRT-JY-90-0001),
corrosion rate for each chainage 20 years after installation of sheet pile, the corrosion of
sheet pile summarize in Table 5.6.
