 Batch Characteristics entry while confirming the production order

In the past you always had to go the characteristic value assignment screen for each item in order to
assign values to the characteristics of materials when posting goods receipts for several materials
handled in batches using the Enter order confirmation transaction (confirmation transaction for short).
Using fast entry of characteristics you can enter not only goods receipt data such as material and quantity
in a screen but also value assignments for up to ten characteristics. This greatly reduces entry effort,
particularly for materials with few characteristics and for preconfigured materials.

Prerequisites:
DIMP business functions DIMP_SDUD, AUTO_DP_1 and AUTO_DP_2 should be activated.

1. Master Data:

1.1 Create Class Characteristics.

Create different characteristics needed required. And assign these characteristics to class.

1.2 Create Class and assignment of characteristics to class.

Click on ‘Char. Tab’.

Define application group for Characteristics display

Path: Shop Floor Control → Operations → Confirmation → Fast Entry of Characteristics in the
Confirmation → Define Application Group for Characteristic Display.

Select CO11N order confirmation from the list and enter application group number (10).

Define Characteristics display of Overview screen

Path: Shop Floor Control → Operations → Confirmation → Fast Entry of Characteristics in the
Confirmation → Define Characteristic Display for overview screen

Click on new entries and enter Char display number, Description and Application group.
Select the Characteristics Assignment and assign the characteristics that needs to be displayed on
confirmation screen

Also Column width can be specified if required. Save the entries.

Now create production order for the material OFC-Test1, Release the order and Save the order
Now confirm the order using CO11N

Click on the Goods Movement screen

Select the Char Display
Enter the characteristics and Save the confirmation
Now check the batch classification values of the batch in MSC3n.All the characteristics values entered in
CO11N are assigned to Batch.
Features
In the item overview for goods movements in the confirmation transaction you can display up to ten batch
characteristics using a characteristic display; you can then classify the characteristics when you enter
goods receipt items.

In the Enter order confirmation transaction (CO11N) press the Goods movements’ pushbutton to go to
the item overview for goods movements.
Here you are also shown the status of the classification. The system displays the following symbols in
the Class Stat column to indicate whether classification is complete or whether there are still
inconsistencies:

Symbol Description

Classification of the batch is complete and consistent. You can change the classification.

Classification of the batch is incomplete (e.g. mandatory characteristics are missing) or inconsistent
(object dependencies conflict). You can change the classification.

Classification of the batch is blocked.

You can only assign the Blocked status manually in the batch master record. If the classification of a
batch is blocked, batch determination will not find the batch.

The batch is not classified.

The classification of the batch can be displayed but cannot be changed.

When you click on these symbols in the item overview, you are taken to the characteristic value
assignment screen of the corresponding batch.

Conclusion:

The above functionality can be achieved in Sales order, Purchase Order, Goods Receipt (MIGO) and
Production orders also. This can be achieved by creating new Assignment of Characteristic Display
group.
