purposes of this conversation, the intelligence and defense community includes U.S. government agencies that work
separately and together to conduct intelligence activities that support the foreign policy and ensure the national
security of the United States. The community may also include private companies, startup companies, and venture
capital firms that support national security in a variety of ways.
